[01] BOOK "ALBANIAN LANGUAGE FOR FOREIGNERS AND ALBANIANS ABROAD" PROMOTED IN TIRANATIRANA, SEPT 25 (ATA) By S Sharrexhi - Dr Xhevat Lloshi, censor of the book "Albanian language for foreigners and Albanians abroad" said it was "A quite new and completed publication, which offers main streams of Albanian language development today and its perspective".He stated such a thing, Wednesday, on the promotion of the above book in the scientific hall of National Library in Tirana. The authors of the book Dr Gjovalin Shkurtaj and Assistant Prof Dr Enver Hysa want to help foreigners and Albanians living abroad by this teaching book of Albanian language. They realise this through texts, exercises and other additional materials the book has in it. The French Ambassador to Albania Patrick Chrismant and officials of the German, Italian and Romanian Embassies and other people attended the ceremony. kled/fh/Z/ Albanian Telegraphic Agency[02] FAMOUS TRIO "WANDERER" TO ORGANISE CONCERT IN ALBANIATIRANA, SEPT 25 (ATA) By R Flloqi - The famous French trio "Wanderer" will organise a concert in the Theatre of Opera and Ballet in Tirana upon the invitation of the French Alliance.This trio is made up by violinist Jean-Marc Philips, cello player Raphael Pidoux and the pianist Vincent Coq. The program has besides others pieces of the composers Hajdn, Smetana and Chausson. kled/fh/Z/ Albanian Telegraphic Agency[03] CEC APPROVES PLATFORM OF TV COVERAGE OF ELECTION CAMPAIGNTIRANA, SEPT 25 (ATA) By S Spahiu - The Central Election Commission (CEC) examined and approved Wednesday afternoon the platform of the Radio and TV coverage for the local election campaign of political subjects.According it, all political parties making up the governing coalition and the opposition parties will have two hours in disposal each on the TV screen. The time division among parties will be realised depending on the number of votes secured in the local government election on July 26, 1992, which means all political parties which secured more than 0.5 per cent of the vote. While, all political parties numbering less than 0.5 per cent of the vote will have, during all election campaign only 10 minutes in disposal, to propagate their election program and activity. jz/fh/Z/ Albanian Telegraphic Agency[04] REGIONAL SEMINAR TO BE HELD ON JOURNALISM AND ETHNIC ISSUESTIRANA, SEPT 26 (ATA) By A Baci - A two-day seminar entitled "Journalism and ethnic issues" will open tomorrow in a hall of Hotel "Tirana International."The seminar organised by the Brussels-based International Journalist Federation in collaboration with Albanian Journalist League and the Association of Professional Journalists will focus on inciting solidarity and prevention of national tension. Specialists on ethnic issues, journalists from Albania, Italy, Greece, Slovenia, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Cyprus, Macedonia, Montenegro, Kosova and other countries will attend the seminar. Also, representatives of European media, NGO and other organisations of the protection of human rights will be present in the meeting as well. The seminar will be sponsored by "PHARE Democracy" program, of the European Union and the Council of Europe. Minority issues, contacts with minority press as well as the debate among representatives of non governmental organisations will occupy most part of the seminar. ksh/fh/Z/ Albanian Telegraphic Agency[05] ALBANIAN DEPUTY PM AND FOREIGN MINISTER LEAVES FOR USTIRANA, SEPT 26 (ATA) - Albanian deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Tritan Shehu left Wdnesday, at the head of a delegation, for the US to attend the proceedings of the 51st session of the UN Assembly General in New York.According the scheduled program, chief of Albanian diplomacy Prof Dr Tritan Shehu will address to the Assembly General on Monday, September 30. Shehu is expected to sign, on behalf of Republic of Albania, the Treaty on banning of Nuclear Tests. Shehu during his stay in New York will held bilateral talks with his counterparts and meet with Albanians residing in New York and Boston. US senior officials and Congressmen will meet the Chief of Albanian diplomacy during his visit in Washington, D.C. jz/fh/Z/ Albanian Telegraphic Agency[06] ALBANIAN PRESIDENT MEETS COMPETITORS OF MISS EUROPE BEAUTY PAGEANTTIRANA, SEPT 26 (ATA) - President of Albanian Republic Sali Berisha received, Wednesday evening, in a cocktail reception in Palace of Brigades in Tirana the competitors of Miss Europe '96 beauty pageant, due to be held in Tirana from October 27-28."I would like first, to cordially thank Mr Zeiler, President of the International Committee of Organisation of World Events and all those who contributed in Albania's selection as the organising country of competition Miss Europe '96, as well as the sponsors of this spectacle" said Berisha. "But, I have also the special pleasure to greet from my heart these representatives of beauty, charm and elegance of all nations of our continent. Their presence here, with the beauty crowns they brought to Albania have turned Tirana to the capital of European beauty queens, in the town of European beauties" underlined the Albanian president. After greeting the talented director of the program Vera Grabocka and all her collaborators, he wished to "Miss Europe '96 beauty pageant", its organisers, competitors and winner full success. jz/fh/Z/ Albanian Telegraphic Agency[07] THERE WILL BE NO 500 OBSERVERS - ITALIAN EMBASSYTIRANA, SEPT 26 (ATA) - The Italian Embassy confutes some articles printed in different Albanian news papers regarding the presence of 500 Italian observers in the local elections on October 20, in Albania.The charge d'affaires of the Italian Embassy Mario Cristofogli said "It is necessary to be precise, and I tell you that none in the meeting has ever mentioned 500 observers." The articles write regarding a meeting between the Italian Embassy representatives and officials of the Central Election Commission, where was discussed on some technical-organisational aspects of October 20, elections. The meeting aimed in informing the diplomatic representatives on local election preparations. Besides others was also discussed the readiness of Italian government to send a group of observers. jz/fh/Z/ Albanian Telegraphic Agency[08] PRESS REVIEWTIRANA, SEPT 26 (ATA) - Rilindja Demokratike (RD) writes today its editorial under the title "Socialists in front of the loss" and an interview with Albert Brojka, the DP candidate for the post of Tirana Mayor entitled "Total engagement for solution of problems."The paper also reports that Foreign Minister Tritan Shehu will attend the proceedings of the UN Assembly General and that President Berisha reserved a reception to competitors of "Miss Europe '96 beauty pageant." RD carries the article "Why is the DP sure in the victory?" and another one entitled "ODIHR fell prey of political manipulation" (From a statement of Prof Victor Ives Ghebali in front of the Swiss Parliamentarian Foreign Commission.) Zeri i Popullit (ZP) carries an editorial entitled "Evident" and an article "In elections to win." Another article of the ZP says that Ministry of F has not yet delivered the fund belonging to the SP. It also carries an article "Hope for the restitution of democracy" and the article "Depoliticazion of higher education remains a dream." Republika prints an article where the arrest of criminal Nehat Kulla is called the first success of the Interior Ministry of Halit Shamata. The paper writes "The Pole hopes in the SP assistance." Poli i Qendres prints the article "Berisha, Meksi and TV have gravely violated the law on elections." It also carries "Election manipulation, a step backward for democracy and a political catastrophe for the DP." Balli i Kombit publishes an editorial entitled "History should never serve as material for political instrumentalisation." Rilindja's editorial is entitled "Germany supports solution of Kosova issue through negotiations." It also carries "Talks on Kosova should start immediately." Albania writes "A woman helped the capturing of criminal Nehat Kulla" and "Albanian chief of the Italian gangs under arrest." The paper also writes "Kosova - unfinished peace." Dita Informacion carries an article "Greek chauvinists help 'Omonia' in elections." It also writes "The SP is working to justify the loss of October 20" and "The DP will realise a deeper victory than in May 26." Liria carries the article "The political parties open the battle of names."
