[01] CHIEF OF POLICE COMMISSARIAT IN POGRADEC KILLEDTIRANA, JULY 16 (ATA)- The chief of the Police Commissariat of Pogradec, southern Albania, was shot dead with automatic weapons by unknown people in a city's cafe at about 22.30 last night.The unknown people who killed Agron Gjyrezi got off a benz car without plate. Interior Ministry sources reported that all roads connecting Pogradec with the other cities and all the border crossing points all over Albania have been blocked. The criminals have not yet been found. The causes of the crime are also unclear, but Gjyrezi's killing is thought to be linked with his duty as Police chief in this district. Gjyrezi, described as one of the most talented specialists, is the first victim of this kind in Albania. jz/lm/z/ Albanian Telegraphic Agency[02] NINE FORMER COMMUNIST SENIOR OFFICIAL TO FACE TRIAL ON JULY 29TIRANA, JULY 16 (ATA) By A Frasheri - A Tirana court, headed by judge Medi Bici, that will try the case against nine former senior officials of PLA (Communist party) and state decided Monday to start trial on July 29, 1996.Lenka Cuko and Lambi Gegprifti former politburo members of the PLA are to be tried with Idajet Beqiri (Chairman of the National Union Party) an others who occupied from the most important posts to that of simple members of district's internment-deportation commissions. They are charged for genocide and crimes against humanity, a penal crime which was consumed by signing orders for internment and deportation of persons for political motives during the dictatorship. The penal crime of genocide and crimes against humanity in collaboration, are considered heavy crimes and the Penal Code envisages sentences ranging from 15 years in prison to life sentence and capital punishment.
