NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJALUKA - The president of Republika Srpska (RS) Biljana Plavsic appointed in Banjaluka at a session of the Supreme Defence Council in accordance with Constitutional jurisdiction and proposed by the RS Defence Minister, lieutenant general Momir Talic a new chief of staff of the RS Army (VRS) General staff. In an public statement, delivered to SRNA from the Cabinet of the RS president, is said that along with some personnel changes at the session of the Supreme Defence Council there were some discussion on current situation in VRS regarding army operations in the last year.

BANJALUKA - The RS delegation with the RS Prime Minister at the head will go tomorrow in an official visit to the USA - is stated for SRNA from the Cabinet of the RS President. The RS delegation includes The Minister of Finance Novak Kondic, the adviser of the RS president for banking and finances Slavica Injac. The RS Prime Minister Milorad Dodik will also have talks with the American Foreign Affairs Minister Madeline Albright in Washington and with the Special Envoy for the Balkans Robert Gelbard.

BANJALUKA - In order to revive the economic production of RS the more help is needed in rebuilding of economic infrastructure, energetic potential, establishing of telecommunications, railroad and air transportation - stated in Banjaluka the RS vice-president Djuradj Banjac. Banjac was at the head of the Government delegation in talks that he had with German delegation about concrete forms of economic cooperation in establishing of business relations between RS and Germany.

SOKOLAC - A Commander of the RS Army 5th Corps, brigadier general Dragan Josipovic received in the farewell visit the SFOR Commander of the South- East division the French general Christian Delange. The brigadier general Josipovic expressed optimism regarding further development of situation throughout these regions and gave him a present. The general Delange assessed that "implementing of the Dayton peace accord is directed in good direction and expressed hope that this successful cooperation will go on in the future.

HAGUE - Miroslav Tadic and Milan Simic Serbs, who had voluntarily surrendered to the War Crimes Hague Tribunal will face tomorrow for the first time this Tribunal - conveys ASP citing sources form the Tribunal. On that first occasion Tadic and Simic are supposed to say whether they feel guilty or not regarding charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity.

ZAGREB - International officials criticised Croatia after it has gained a power over Srem - Baranja region (SBO) - because Serbs does not feel safe and they have invited Zagreb to speed up the return of refugees throughout Croatia and to improve security conditions. The chief of OSCE's observer's mission Tim Guldimann visited SBO with the group of European and American diplomats. They expressed concerned because of increased incidents in the region and fear of Serbian population as well as in the SBO and other parts of Croatia.

PRISTINA - The organising board of the Albanian Students' protest stated in Pristina that " peaceful protests" will be held on March 13, 1998 - is said in the Albanian daily "Bujku". The Board said that in the protest would participate " all people, ready to unite with students and all ready to respect the rules of 'student protest'.
