NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

SARAJEVO - B&H Presidency, which is in session in the federal part of Sarajevo, is discussing design of the new currency, the beginning of work of the new diplomatic net and relations with the International Monetary Fund, and 9 more items are on the agenda. Except member of the Presidency the session is being attended by American envoy for Balkan Robert Gelbard, who is in the official visit to the countries of former Yugoslavia, the High Civilian Representative of the International Community Carlos Westendorp, his deputy Jaques Klein and the mayor of the Central Bank Piter Nicol. Gelbard is supposed to go to Banjaluka in the afternoon where he will meet the president of Republika Srpska (RS) Biljana Plavsic.

BANJALUKA - The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Nikolai Afanasievski stated in Banjaluka that Russia insists on "peaceful political solution" of crisis in RS and that its' division would be dangerous to peace process. After the meeting with RS president Biljana Plavsic he said that "Russia have always been for the political solution of the crisis, because eventual division of RS would be dangerous to B&H and whole peace process".

SARAJEVO - In the last night's report of the mandatory for the composition of the new RS Government Mladen Ivanic intention of the International Community in the assembling of the new cabinet are clear enough, and that is showing that Ivanic conformed to directive of foreign factors - is claimed in the announcement of the RS government forwarded to SRNA from the Ministry of Information. "However the Government believes that there is clear determination in RS and among current political parties for preserving achieved sovereignty, and that all unacceptable scenarios for its destruction will be recognised on time".

BIJELJINA - The president in the B&H Presidency form RS Momcilo Krajisnik assessed that yesterday's continuation of the National Assembly (NS) Inaugural Session was nevertheless successful, in spite of sparks and certain dose of distrust, and expressed hope that before the next session - on January 17 - situation will be much more stable when it is about the mandatory for the New convocation of the RS Government.

SARAJEVO - The High International Civilian Representative in B&H Carlos Westendorp thinks that continuation of the Inaugural Session of NS RS is the first step toward the normalisation of the situation, "because in a such parliament there will be more population of different political options". He announced that the question of Serbian Radio-Television would be solved when the new RS Government was formed.

BIJELJINA - Representatives of Serbian National Union (SNS), Socialist Party (SP) of RS and Party of Independent Social- Democrats (SNSD) in the RS Parliament supported at last night's consultative meeting in Bijeljina the concept of the new Government with the candidate for the Government's mandatory Mladen Ivanic.

SARAJEVO - The Co-president of the B&H Council of Ministers Boro Bosic accepted the invitation of the Turkish premier Mesud Yilmas, which was delivered to him in Pale by the Turkish Ambassador to B&H Muhammad Gorky, to visit Turkey together with the other co-president Haris Silajdzic. "We have used this opportunity to exchange opinion on complete political situation in B&H, and we also talked about the possibilities of new total cooperation between Turkey and B&H, and in the framework of that RS too" - stated Bosic for SRNA after the meeting.

SARAJEVO - Although it was confirmed this morning from SFOR Office in Pale that access to radio-relay transmitter on Trebevic was permitted to RS team "Telecommunications" in order to eliminate damage, because of which region of Sarajevo and Romanija have not had telephone connections with the world for 72 hours already, in the Main Office of Post Office, Telegraph and Telephone it is claimed that works have not been approved yet. The SFOR spokesman Lui Garno confirmed yesterday for SRNA that SFOR would enable the removing of the damage on the transmitter. Nor the reasons of the interruption of connections, or the time when they are going to work again have not been announced to public yet.

SARAJEVO - The B&H Federation (FB&H) Army, with purchased weapons and completed training, is strong enough for the new territorial conquering - claims the vice-president of FB&H Vladimir Soljic, although rejecting any war option in the future. "Croatian part of B&H is absolutely declining any war option and will not take part in any war operation, except in the case of defence"- emphasised Soljic last night for the federal television in Sarajevo.

BELGRADE - The president of Serbian Radical Party (SRS) Vojislav Seselj will arrive today in RS together with collaborators, and talk with republican and the leadership of Serbian Democratic Party.
