DEC.24, 1997 DAY
NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA
AMSTERDAM - The visit of the American president Bill Clinton to Sarajevo
and Tuzla was utmost thought out and organised performance which should
have again excited sentimental American public through media and in that
way to convince it of justification for American soldiers to remain in B&H.
This is how the visit of Clinton was described by a correspondent of the
Dutch "Folksrant", confirming his claims with organised encounter of the
American president with an disabled person.
HAMBURG - The High Representative for Civil Affairs Carlos Westendorp is
often absent and is not working enough on realisation of confidential task,
which led to chaotic relationships in his staff and that can lead to his
soon dismissing - claimed German weekly "Der Spiegel". Complaints of
diplomats, that because of the chaos between Westerndop`s associates,
process of reconstruction of B&H was disabled, and especially
revitalisation of economy, have been assessed by this news as an attempt to
"pave the path" for his dismissal, which will, according to predictions,
probably be taken over by an American.
SAMAC - The Municipal Assembly Samac changed by a swift act some
regulations of the Statute of Municipal Parliament, in order to enable the
normal functioning of local authorities. In the Statute of the Municipal
Assembly text of the Oath has been included, which has been offered by OSCE
and signed by board members from B&H Federation (FB&H), who took part at
the session for the first time, while instead of the term "town" for the
municipal centre of Samac syntagm "settled place" has been included,
considering the fact that in Republika Srpska (RS) status of a town have
only Banjaluka and Srpsko Sarajevo.
SARAJEVO - The Minister for Sport and Youth congratulated the Basketball
Union of Republika Srpska (RS) on the fifth year of their establishing.
"Not even cruel war conditions during the fatherland war for defence of our
nation and creating RS did not prevent the representatives of our sport
with the highest number of trophies to gather and reaffirm the work of the
basketball clubs" - is said in the congratulations.
SARAJEVO - In the hotel "Bistrica" on Jahorina eleventh round of the Second
International Grand Master Tournament "Jahorina '97." will be played. After
the tenth round Ilincic and Velimirovic are leading by 6 points each, and
SRNA is reporting about other results on the whole.
