NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJALUKA - The president of Republika Srpska (RS), Biljana Plavsic, met today in Banjaluka with the chief of the OSCE Mission to B&H and chairman of the Provisional Electoral Commission, ambassador Robert Frowick, but the details of the talks were not made available to journalists. After the meeting, US ambassador left Banjaluka and no official announcement was issued from the RS presidential Cabinet about the meeting.

ZVORNIK - The president from RS in the Presidency of the B&H, Momcilo Krajisnik, stated in Zvornik that RS 'is a large building site, so that a considerable amount of resources should be invested in the repairing of the houses and the launching of the economic capacities'. 'Now, when the political situation has been fairly well normalised, some of the economic capacities started working, but the effects of the economic revival will be seen once the major economic enterprises such as the 'Glinica' firm in Zvornik is, start operating, said Krajisnik.

ROGATICA - The RS minister for refugees and displaced persons, Ljubisa Vladusic, talked in Rogatica with the representatives of the Municipality of Rogatica and Association of Refugees from Serb Sarajevo on the possibilities for a permanent housing of the expelled in this area. It was agreed to at the meeting that the Department of the Ministry for Refugees and Displaced Persons, together with the representatives of the Association of Refugees, will fill in the lists of abandoned property and check the domicile population who occupied the same illegally, while having their own homes in the Municipality.

BANJALUKA - The director of the OSCE Regional Centre in Banjaluka, Roger Bryant called all the eligible citizens from RS and the Federation of B&H to register themselves on time for the forthcoming municipal elections. He reminded us at a press conference that the voters registration started on May 5 and is to be finished by June 16, 1997.

BRCKO - The High Representative of the international community to B&H, Carl Bildt, stated in Brcko the voters registration for the local elections is to start in this area within the next couple of days. 'A decision on the registration has to be made as soon as possible, so that everyone who is presently living here or lived here in 1991 will have a chance to vote', stated Bildt after the talks with the supervisor, Robert Farrand.

BRCKO - The local elections in Brcko are to take place at a time as in the whole of RS, and there can be no compromise about the intactness and unity of the territory, the director of the Main Office of the Serbian Democratic Party, Vlado Vrkes, stated in Brcko.

BANJALUKA - The Social-Liberal Party of RS condemned categorically the OSCE's decision on the postponement of the voters registration in the Municipality of Brcko, assessing it as an extremely unacceptable and hypocritical.

DOBOJ - Due to mistakes made by the OSCE Office in Doboj, the first day of the voters registration in the Municipality started with some technical difficulties in three registration stations, reports the local Electoral Commission. The voters from the settlements of the former Municipality of Maglaj, who entered the composition of RS following the demarcation, were joined without any reason and explanation to the Municipality of Petrovo instead to Doboj.

SARAJEVO - During the last week SFOR inspected 92 of the arms warehouses, of which 28 belong to the B&H Army, 36 are of the Croatian Council of Defence (HVO) and 28 of the Army of Republika Srpska (VRS), reported the SFOR spokesman, Kris Jarly at a press conference in Lukavica. As he said, SFOR observed the training of the troops, which was done in the accordance with the Dayton agreement.
