NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BRCKO - A possibility of renewal of conflict in Republika Srpska (RS) and Federation of B-h has been almost completely eliminated by peace-keeping operation, assessed colonel Stiven Lifield, US SFOR troops commander in Brcko, before his departure, after handing over his post to US colonel Jim Grin.

MOSCOW - The Russian president Boris Yeltzin talked in Kremlin with leaders of several Union of Independent States members on improvement of bilateral and other aspects of cooperation. During the meeting with Ukrainian president Leonid Kuchma, Yeltzin agreed to visit Kiev for talks on disputes over the Black Sea Navy, status of Sevastopol and Ukrainian intentions to join NATO.

TIRANA - Albanian prime minister, Baskim Fino blamed Italy for sinking of a ship with 130 Albanian refugees, in which four persons lost their lives, reports Reuters. "The tragedy could have been evaded, that is why I request from the Italian prime minister Roman Prodi to begin an official inquiry and name those responsible for the tragedy", stated Fino for Albanian state TV.

JAMMU - At least 16 people were killed, and 50 were injured in an explosion of two bombs set in a bus station in the city of Jammu in the state of Jammu, India, Reuter reports. Police did not find perpetrators of the crime which caused no casualties among women and children, while several persons were reported to be in critical health condition.

BANJALUKA - Deputy RS minister of religion, Jovo Turanjanin, sent Easter greetings to Catholic Bishop in Banjaluka, Franjo Komarica, clergy and believers.
