NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

SARAJEVO - The finance minister of Republika Srpska (RS), Novak Kondic, stated that funds for the economic reconstruction would finally start reaching RS. In his statement for Serb TV, Kondic explained that during the recent visit of the RS delegation to the IMF and World Bank, a 60-million dollars emergency project for RS was approved.

SOKOLAC - The deputy US secretary of state for population, refugees and immigration, Cylis Oakley, visited the Sokolac collective centre, on which occasion she stated "I came here to see how much funds are needed and on which way they should be spent", adding that she was impressed by things already done, as well as a desire of the local populace to cope with the war aftermath.

THESALONIKI - A visit of the Greek foreign minister, Theodor Pangalos, to Belgrade, Sarajevo and Zagreb should pave the way for a Balkan conference to be held next year, assesses the Greek paper "Katimerini". "Minister Pangalos intends to inform his hosts of a Greek initiative regarding the conference, which is expected to bring about an improvement of bilateral and relations in general in the Balkans", writes "Katimerini".

NICOSIA - The occupation Turkish units in Cyprus set an ambush and killed a 58-year-old Greek Petros Calculidis.
