The Commission for Security and Cooperation in Europe of the US Senate,
better known as the "Helsinki Commission" considers that NATO should admit
Romania, the Czech Republic and Slovenia in the first round. The statement
was made by the president of the Commission, Alphonse D'Amato, after
hearings by the Helsinki Commission during which ambassadors Geoana
(Romania), Vondra (the Czech Republic) and Petric (Slovenia) presented

[02] Trade union protests
The Fratia trade union confederation in Romania will organise, stating
Thursday, protest demonstations across the country. The disatisfaction of
the CNSRL-Fratia trade unionists is due to an alarming decrease in real
wages, to increase in prices for energy and staples and to the delay in
adopting the laws of the reform as well as the lack of measures of social
protection that should compensate the costs of restructuring. RRI-RADOR,

fact that the number of Romanian tourists travelling to Bulgaria is
expected to rise this summer. RRI-RADOR, May 15
