In the quiet coffeeshops and the touristic cafes of Kalymnos, one can enjoy coffee or juice while admiring the beautiful and picturesque town, as the pasty shops sell sweets made from local honey. The town is full of cafe-bars serving coffee in the morning and afternoon and alcohol in the evening. Some of these cafe-bars are "Gianikouris", "Gourias", "Elidis", "Kambourakis", "Levendis", "Loizos" and "Tropikana". In the old days, the people of Kalymnos honoured the dinner gathering. They ate together, dipping their bread in oil, eating the well known "mirmizeli", made from meat mixed with oil, salt and bread with "tahini". Today, things are different. Kalymnos has a multitude of tavernas and restaurants, such as "Xefteries" and "The Taverna of uncle Petros", where one can have fresh fish and seafood, as well as local cuisine. In Kalymnos in "Therma", "Andonis", "Neskes" and "Vala", one can taste the famous "mououri" -tasty stuffed lamb- while fresh fish is served at the fish taverna "Michaelos". A stroll though Massouri could be combined with dinner at the picturesque tavernas of "Andonopoulos", "Elina's" and "Kokinidis", as well as the taverna "Stala", in the nearby village of Myrties. From there, fishing boats take tourists to the opposite islet of "Telendos" where, at the quiet restaurants "Uncle George's" and "Galanomata Fotini", there is plenty of fresh fish. In the beautiful village of Panormos, one can eat at the restaurants "Pizania" and "Smalio", as well as at the restaurant "Asteria", in nearby Horio. The beautiful village of Vathi is known for the taverna "Limani".
