Siros, the capital of Cyclades, will impress everyone with the variety of
the landscape, which alters from farming areas to hills. According to archaeologists
the island was inhabited since the Neo-lithic times. Ermoupoli, the capital of the island, is built amphitheatricaly, is full of neo-classic
buldings, old mansions and traditional white houses. At the centre of the
town stands Miaouli Square, ringed with stores and cafes. Among the spots
worth visiting are the Apollo Municipal Theatre a miniature of 'La Scala'
Milan, the Town Hall designed by Ziller, the Archaeological Museum, the Municipal Library and the museum devoted to the popular music composer Markos Vamvakaris. Some of the most beautiful beaches are Galissas, Possidonia, Vari, Kini
and Megas Gialos, all situated at the south side of Siros.
