    INTRO: BRITISH TROOPS HAVE BEGUN TO LEAVE THE UNITED NATIONS DECLARED SAFE AREA OF GORAZDE AFTER CLASHING WITH BOSNIAN ARMY SOLDIERS WHO INTRUDED INTO THEIR CAMP. V-O-A'S CENTRAL EUROPEAN CORRESPONDENT, WAYNE COREY, REPORTS.

    TEXT: ABOUT 80 BRITISH SOLDIERS HAVE LEFT GORAZDE SO FAR. THE 100 BRITISH TROOPS STILL THERE WILL LEAVE THE MUSLIM ENCLAVE IN EASTERN BOSNIA BY THE END OF THE MONTH.

    AS THE BRITISH BEGAN THEIR DEPARTURE, THE UNITED NATIONS PROTESTED TO THE BOSNIAN GOVERNMENT OVER AN EARLIER BOSNIAN ARMY ATTACK ON THE BRITISH CAMP.

    BRITISH FORCES KILLED TWO BOSNIAN ARMY INTRUDERS AND WOUNDED A THIRD. THERE WERE NO BRITISH CASUALTIES.

    THE BOSNIAN SOLDIERS APPARENTLY WANTED TO STEAL WEAPONS OR EQUIPMENT FROM THE BRITISH -- THE LAST PEACEKEEPERS STILL IN GORAZDE.

    WHEN THE BRITISH ARE GONE, THE ONLY INTERNATIONAL PROTECTION FOR THE 60-THOUSAND MUSLIMS IN THE ENCLAVE WILL BE POSSIBLE NATO AIRSTRIKES.

    THE UNITED NATIONS MAY WITHDRAW ITS PEACEKEEPERS FROM ANOTHER MUSLIM ENCLAVE, THE U-N DECLARED SAFE AREA OF BIHAC, IN NORTHWESTERN BOSNIA.

    WITH THE BACKING OF CROAT FORCES, THE BOSNIAN ARMY HAS REGAINED ITS CONTROL OF THE BIHAC AREA. U-N OFFICIALS IN SARAJEVO BELIEVE IT WOULD BE MORE DIFFICULT NOW FOR THE BOSNIAN SERBS TO CAPTURE BIHAC. (SIGNED)
