    ANKARA- Turkey's state-run Ziraat Bankasi has signed a preliminary agreement to launch a joint banking venture with Macedonia's Komercijalna Banka AD/Skopje.

    The agreement ceremony took place at the Turkish Presidential Palace on Friday, the semi-official Anatolia news agency said.

    It said the new banking venture will have an inauguration capital of DM 22 million which will be paid by the two banks in equal terms.

    Ziraat Bankasi General-Manager Veli Salih Sevki Doruk said that the bank would contribute to the development of economic relations between the two countries.

    He also said that the preparations to open branches in Tirana, Sofia and Bucharest were also in progress.

    ANKARA- Mercedes Benz Turk A.S., the Turkish subsidiary of the German vehicle manufacturer Mercedes Benz, will supply a total of 904 buses to the Russian Federation, the Anatolia news agency reported from Moscow.

    Mercedes Benz Turk won a contract in the Russian capital for the procurement of buses to be used for inner city transport in 13 Russian cities. Anatolia said this was the largest ever bus contract in Russian history.

    A major part of the buses will be manufactured in Istanbul and 160 of them will be assembled in the Gloz Bus Plant near Moscow.

    The Russian Federation will also need 18,000 busses for inner city transport and 5,000 coaches, according to Russian Transport Ministry officials.

    Anatolia also said 56 other provinces have also applied to the ministry for similar tenders.
