[01] CEM SENDS A MESSAGE TO IRAN AND OFFER HIS CONDOLENCES
ANKARA - Foreign Minister Ismail Cem sent a message to Iran on Sunday
after a strong earthquake jolted northwestern Iran yesterday. In
his message, Cem expressed his profound sorrow over loss of life in the
quake disaster, and offered his condolences.

ISTANBUL - Argentine international midfielder Ariel Ortega who moved
from River Plate to Fenerbahce arrived in Istanbul on Sunday.
[03] 10TH ANNIVERSARY SUMMIT OF BSEC TO BE HELD IN ISTANBUL
ANKARA - The extraordinary summit meeting of heads of state and
government of member countries to the Black Sea Economic Cooperation
(BSEC) will become the scene of continuation of dialogue process
between Turkey and Armenia which started in Iceland.

LAAKEN'S FINAL STATEMENT''
ANKARA - Foreign Minister Ismail Cem said on Sunday that they were
expecting a little different expression in the European Union (EU)
Seville summit's final statement than the Laaken summit's final
statement but the outcome was normal.
[05] TURKEY PARTICIPATES IN COOPERATIVE PARTNER-2002 EXERCISE
ANKARA - NATO's annual maritime and amphibious exercise Cooperative
Partner-2002 will take place from June 21 until July 6 2002 near
Constanta, Romania, and in the Black Sea.
[06] YUCELEN: ''WE WILL HEAL WOUNDS OF FLOOD DISASTER AS SOON AS
POSSIBLE''
GIRESUN - Interior Minister Rustu Kazim Yucelen said on Sunday that
they would heal wounds of the flood disaster in Black Sea Region as
soon as possible. Yucelen visited flood-hit regions in northern
province of Giresun.
[07] CILLER: ''ANY LANGUAGE EXCEPT FOR TURKISH CANNOT BE EDUCATION
LANGUAGE''
ANKARA - True Path Party (DYP) leader Tansu Ciller said on Sunday that
any language except for Turkish could not be education language in
Turkey, however people could be granted the right to learn their mother
tongues in private and specialized courses.
[08] YILMAZ AND 200-MEMBER TOOB DELEGATION LEAVE FOR BRUSSELS
ANKARA - State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Mesut Yilmaz, who
also acts as the leader of the Motherland Party (ANAP), left for
Brussels, Belgium to attend a conference to be organized by the Union
of Turkish Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB), and to hold a
series of contacts.

ISTANBUL - Three bombs exploded in different places in Sisli and
Beyoglu districts of Istanbul, causing financial damage.
[10] MINIMUM WAGE FIXING COMMISSION TO CONVENE ON TUESDAY
ANKARA - The Minimum Wage Fixing Commission will convene on Tuesday to
set the new minimum wage that will be valid as of July 1, 2002.
[11] EXPLOSION IN LPG FILLING STATION IN SIVAS BODY OF A PERSON FOUND
IN STATION'S POOL
SIVAS - Police found body of a person in a pool during their search
after Saturday's LPG explosion in a filling station in Sivas province
in central Anatolia.
[12] TURKEY AND EU STATISTICS
ANKARA - World Bank statistics revealed that although Turkey provided
more rapid increases in exports, imports and national income than
Spain, Portugal and Greece, which became full members of the European
Union (EU) in 1980s, it cannot reflect this development in prosperity
level of people due to high rate of population increase.
[13] PRESIDENT SEZER RETURNS TO TURKEY
ANKARA - President Ahmet Necdet Sezer returned to Turkey late on
Saturday after partaking in the working lunch of heads of state and
government of member and candidate countries to the European Union (EU)
in Seville, Spain.
