[01] KOKSAL, THE TURKISH AMBASSADOR TO FRANCE PRESENTS HIS LETTER OF CREDENTIALSPARIS, April 7 (A.A) - Sonmez Koksal, the new Turkish Ambassador to France, presented his letter of credentials to French President Jacques Chirac on Monday.Sonmez Koksal, who was the former Undersecretary of National Intelligence Service (MIT), had also been Turkey's Permanent Representative to Council of Europe (COE) in Strasbourg and Turkish Ambassador to Iraq. [02] UN SAYS GREEK CYPRIOT ADMINISTRATION DISCRIMINATES TURKISH CYPRIOTSNEW YORK, April 7 (A.A) - United Nations (UN) Human Rights Committee stressed that the Greek Cypriot administration discriminates Turkish people living in the south of the island, it is reported on Tuesday.The UN Report noted that the Human Rights Committee heard of news saying that Turkish people are discriminated and pointed out that the Greek Cypriot side does not provide sufficient information to UN officials. The Report said that Turkish people were discriminated particularly when they are trying to find jobs and when they wish to have identity cards. The UN Human Rights Committee asked the Greek Cypriot administration to give further information concerning this issue. The Report also expressed pleasure over the agreement reached between Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and the Greek Cypriot side regarding the lost people. [03] US STATE DEPARTMENT: ''MILLER WILL RETURN TO CYPRUS AT THE END OF THIS MONTH, HOLBROOKE WILL VISIT CYPRUS IN MAY''WASHINGTON, April 7 (A.A) - The US State Department said on Monday that Thomas Miller, the Special Coordinator to Cyprus will return to Cyprus at the end of this month and Richard Holbrooke, the Special Representative to Cyprus will return to the island in May.James Foley, the US State Department Deputy Spokesman said that Holbrooke met separately the leaders of the two communities two times during his contacts in the island last week. Noting that the two leaders wished Holbrooke to return to the island, Foley said that the US Special Representative accepted this invitation. James Foley stressed that the US will continue to launch efforts concerning the Cyprus issue, adding that ''our efforts are in full harmony with the UN process.'' Foley recalled the statement of Holbrooke who said that he did not bring any plans to the island and added that ''all kinds of issues were taken up during the meetings with the two leaders.'' [04] ADMIRAL DERVISOGLU, NAVAL FORCES COMMANDER TO LEAVE FOR BULGARIA ON WEDNESDAYANKARA, April 7 (A.A) - Admiral Salim Dervisoglu, the Naval Forces Commander will leave for Bulgaria on Wednesday, it is reported on Tuesday.General Secretariat of Naval Forces said in a written statement that Admiral Dervisoglu will participate in Black Sea Countries Naval Forces Commanders meeting that will be held in Varna province of Bulgaria between April 8-11. [05] EUROPEAN TRAVELLING COMMISSION CHOOSES TURKEY AS THE MOST SUCCESSFUL COUNTRY IN TOURISMANKARA, April 7 (A.A) - European Travelling Commission (ETC), which is an American organization, chose Turkey as the most successful country in the field of tourism in respect of presentation and marketting, it is reported on Tuesday.Tourism Ministry said that the advertisement activities carried out by the Ministry in the US played an important role concerning the election of Turkey by ETC. The ETC Report said that the number of American tourists who visit Turkey between 1992-1997 increased by 100 percent. Meanwhile, articles published about Turkish tourism in the American press have also increased. The American magazines namely ''Travel Lelsure'' covered Turkey and Turkish tourism in 15 pages in January, ''National Geographic'' in 17 pages in March and ''Departures'' in 24 pages again in March. [06] DIYARBAKIR GOVERNOR CALLS BUSINESSMEN TO INVEST IN DIYARBAKIRDIYARBAKIR, April 7 (A.A) - Nafiz Kayalı, the Diyarbakır Governor said on Tuesday that the investments made in Diyarbakır will be guaranted by the state and all kinds of opportunities will be provided for investors.Kayalı told A.A correspondent that Diyarbakır has completely solved the terrorism problem and became one of the most secure provinces of the country. ''I would like to call all investors to come and invest in Diyarbakır. I ensure that those people who invest here will not have any bureaucratic difficulties,'' he said. Kayalı also called all businessmen to build schools and give donations to governorship for construction of schools in Diyarbakır. [07] FORMER RP DEPUTIES TO BE TRIEDANKARA, April 7 (A.A) - Necmettin Erbakan, Hasan Huseyin Ceylan, Sevki Yılmaz and Ibrahim Halil Celik, the former deputies of the banned Welfare Party (RP), will be tried before the court in the coming days, it is reported on Tuesday.Sevki Yılmaz, who is famous for his insulting speeches, will be tried in eight separate cases, while Hasan Huseyin Ceylan will be before the court concerning four cases opened against him. Ibrahim Halil Celik will be tried in one case before the Penal Court. Meanwhile, Ankara Chief Prosecutor brought a file against Necmettin Erbakan, the former leader of the banned Welfare Party (RP) and accused Erbakan of insulting the Constitutional Court during a speech issued two days after the closure of RP. Erbakan will be tried before the Ankara Penal Court in the coming days concerning his speech. [08] TURKISH CYPRIOTS TO VISIT HALA SULTAN TOMB IN GREEK CYPRIOT SIDELEFKOSA, April 7 (A.A) - Turkish Cypriots will visit ''Hala Sultan Tomb'' on the third day of religious holiday (Bayram) in Larnaka city of Greek Cypriot side for the third time, it is reported on Tuesday.Turkish Cypriots visited the same tomb on April 19, 1997 for the first time since 1974. Greek Cypriots visit Apastopolos Andreas Monastery in Dipkarpaz region of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) for three times in a year. The Greek Cypriot side will permit the visit of 1200 Turkish Cypriots to the tomb this time. The two sides in Cyprus permit such visits on religious days due to the agreement reached between Rauf Denktas, the TRNC President and Glafcos Clerides, the Greek Cypriot leader on July 31, 1997 in Lefkosa.
