[01] TURKEY-IRAN - IRANIAN AMBASSADOR MOHAMMAD CANASAVI IN ANKARAANKARA, March 14 (A.A) - Iranian Ambassador to Turkey Mohammad Canasavi said on Friday that there are many common interests between Turkey and Iran, adding that ''I came here to strengthen these common interests.''Addressing a statement at Esenboga Airport, Canasavi stated that he has been appointed as Iranian Ambassador to Turkey by Iranian President Mohammed Khatemi. Noting that Turkey and Iran are in a very important region, Canasavi pointed out that the two countries should cooperate in many fields. ''Their trade capacity had reached three billion dollars in the past, we have to reach that level again. I will launch efforts to eliminate the weak points that exist in our relations. One of this weak points is the instability in the region,'' Canasavi added. [02] TURKEY-YUGOSLAVIA - TURKEY CALLS YUGOSLAVIA TO ACCEPT THE VISA APPLICATION OF PIRISTINA, A TURKISH DEPUTYANKARA, March 14 (A.A) - Turkey called Federal Republic of Yugoslavia to accept the visa application of Ahmet Piristina, who wishes to make examinations in Kosovo region, it is reported on Friday.Foreign Ministry said in a written statement that Piristina applied to Yugoslavian Embassy in Ankara on March 11 for diplomatic visa, adding that the visit does not aim to intervene with the internal affairs of Yugoslavia. ''Our deputies' close interest in the recent developments in Kosovo should be considered as legitimate due to historical reasons and our kinsmen living in the region,'' the statement noted. Foreign Ministry stressed that Yugoslavian Ambassador to Turkey was summoned to foreign ministry and Turkey's good will was explanied to him, adding that a similar initiative was also undertaken by Alev Kılıc, the Turkish Ambassador to Yugoslavia. The statement noted that Yugoslavia has not responded yet to the application. [03] TURKEY IN BRIEF - MARCH 14, 1998ANKARA - Turkish Radio Television Company (TRT) started to transmit its news in Georgian language on radio due to the visit of Prime Minister Mesut Yılmaz to Georgia, it is reported on Friday.Foreign Ministry said in a written statement that TRT will start its broadcasts on March 13 for half an hour. The statement noted that the broadcasts, which will be about daily events, music and educational information, will start at 19.00 (GMT 17.00) every day. MOSCOW - State Ministers Gunes Taner and Mustafa Yılmaz, arrived in Moscow on Friday night for a special visit, it is reported on Saturday. ISTANBUL - Istemihan Talay, the Minister of Culture, who was in Bosnia to participate in 14th Sarajevo Winter Festival, returned to Turkey on Friday evening. SALONICA - Panayotis Kucukos, the Greek Chairman of Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) Business Council, said on Friday that the exports of Greece to Turkey reached 354 million dollars in 1996, which was 89 million dollars in 1989. Kucukos added that the exports of Turkey to Greece, which was 121 million dollars in 1989, reached 231 million dollars in 1996. ASHKABAT - Necdet Menzir, the Minister of Transportation, arrived in Ashkabat on Friday evening to participate in Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) meeting. Addressing a statement to A.A correspondent, Menzir said that ECO meeting will start on Saturday and end on Sunday. [04] TURKEY-THE BALKANS - PARLIAMENT SPEAKER CETIN: ''INCIDENTS HAPPENING IN KOSOVO, CAN SPREAD TO THE WHOLE BALKANS''ANTALYA, March 14 (A.A) - Parliament Speaker Hikmet Cetin said on Saturday taht the incidents happening in Kosovo can spread to the whole Balkans.Parliament Speaker Cetin met Croatian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mate Granic the same day. ''The bloody incidents should stop in Kosovo as soon as possible, because it can spread to the whole Balkans and it can lead to hot clashes,'' Cetin told Granic. Mate Granic said in his part that ''we wish establishment of a dialogue between the government in Belgrad and Albanian people living in Kosovo and we condemn the attacks on civilian people in Kosovo. Croatia also wishes to improve relations with Turkey.''
