IMKB STANDS ON ITS FEET BY ITS INTERNAL DYNAMICS
The tension during IMF meetings, the ambiguity in political life and taxes prevented foreign investors to take position in Istanbul Stock Market (IMKB), but the latter succeeded to stand on its feet by its internal dynamics.

[02] TRNC-GREEK CYPRIOT SIDE - TRNC PRESIDENT DENKTAS: ''AIRCRAFTS THAT TAKE OFF FROM BAF, WILL NOT FIND ANY AIRPORT TO LAND ''

LEFKOSA, Jan 25 (A.A) - Turkish Republic of Norhern Cyprus (TRNC) President Rauf Denktas said on Saturday that Greek Cypriot side attacks Turkish Cypriots in order to transform ''Partnership Republic'' into a ''Greek Cypriot Republic.''

In his speech made at a Turkish Cypriot television channel, TRNC President Denktas stated that ''the plane which will take off from Baf Airport will not find any airport to land. If that plane comes to us, it will find Turkish aircrafts in front of it.''

Noting that Greek Cypriots say they turned Baf military base into an operational form for ''defensive purposes,'' Denktas pointed out that ''Turkish aircraft can only enter Greek Cypriot side if the latter wishes to sweep us away from Cyprus. So there is no meaning to defend oneself against a guarantor state.''

Meanwhile, TRNC Foreign and Defense Minister Taner Etkin said that the opening of Baf airbase in the south of the divided Mediterranean island was a dangerous step.

''This destabilising development carries the possibility of giving birth to serious consequences in Cyprus and Eastern Mediterranean,'' said Etkin.

Noting that the ones who took this step and those who encourage them are responsible for the consequences of this development, Etkin stressed that ''We will take measures within the framework of the guarantees provided by Turkey against such kind of destabilising developments.''

General Staff General Secretariat said that General Karadayı will participate in a seminar named ''Defense Policies and Military Doctrines'' which will be held the same day within the framework of Organization on Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and which will end on January 28.
