    [02] TURKEY-ITALY - 18 PEOPLE CAPTURED AS THEY ATTEMPT TO GO TO ITALY THROUGH ILLEGAL WAYS

    ISTANBUL/KADIKOY, Jan 3 (A.A) - Eighteen people were captured in a truck loaded with rubbertires as they attempted to go to Italy through illegal ways, it was reported on Saturday.

    Teams from the Uskudar Security Department, acting on a tip off staged a raid and captured these people, most of them from southeast, hidden in the truck which was about to be loaded to the ship that will sail from Haydarpasa harbour to Italy.

    These 18 people said they wanted to go to Germany after Italy to seek for asylum.

    Officials said wide ranged operations were initiated to capture the ones who planned these incidents.

    [03] TURKEY-ACCIDENT - TWO KILLED, 16 INJURED IN TRAFFIC ACCIDENT

    TATVAN, Jan 3 (A.A) - Two people were killed, 16 others were injured and another one was lost when a passanger bus fell into Van lake on Saturday.

    The accident happened when the passager bus lost control due to ice on the road. The bus was going from eastern Van province to southern Mersin province.

    The passangers Sirin Bilen and Selahattin Tay were killed in the accident.

    The injured ones were immediately sent to hospitals in Diyarbakir and Bitlis.

    One of the passangers, whose identity could not be specified yet, was lost in the accident.
