APC CANDIDATE PROFILE

THE POSITION:

Hyperion Systems Engineering, a leader in the International Process Systems Solutions and Consultancy services Market, headquartered in Lefkosia, Cyprus, with locations in a number of countries in Europe, CIS, and the Middle East, is seeking to recruit Chemical, Process, or related Engineering applicants for its Advanced Process Control and Specialty Consulting Business Unit. We are looking for career oriented skilled professionals, with drive and ambition to succeed in a dynamic, international, environment. The successfully applicants will be involved with the design and implementation of Advanced Process Control Solutions using proprietary software in the chemical, petroleum, and related industries.

THE PROFILE OF THE SUCCESFUL CANDIDATE

The desirable candidate profile for the Advanced Process Control Engineer position in the APC and Specialty Consulting Business Unit is:

A Bachelors degree or equivalent in Chemical Engineering or related Engineering discipline from a recognized University. MSc or PhD in a relevant Engineering field, such as Advanced Process Dynamics and Control, will be considered an advantage.

A degree in Electrical/Electronic or similar Engineering discipline may be acceptable. However in that case strict criteria will be applied to ensure that the candidate has adequate experience and understanding of the relevant processes (see below).

Three or more years experience in a refinery, ethylene plant, other bulk chemicals production facility or similar industrial manufacturing plant as detailed below.

Process experience, preferably process engineering, troubleshooting, or similar activities with emphasis on technical responsibilities. Production experience is also desirable.

Experience in design, operation or troubleshooting of major process units. The most relevant process units are: various types of distillation columns (atmospheric, high-pressure, vacuum, isomeric, crude, packed, tray, azeotropic, etc); absorption, adsorption, stripping and other separation equipment; reactors, compressors, heat exchangers, furnaces, boilers or similar process units.

Process control experience, preferably in one or more of the following: practical knowledge of designing PID and similar controls (cascade, ratio, split range, feed-forward, etc); experience in troubleshooting, commissioning, tuning and operating such controls.

Knowledge of at least one Commercial DCS system, preferably on the programming, configuration and design level. DCS experience on the user level is bare minimum.

Exposure and/or experience with Advanced Process Control (APC) is highly desired. Experience with specific APC software such as DMCPlus, RMPCT, Connoisseur, etc., is considered a significant advantage.

Ability to work effectively with software and to learn quickly the use of complex software tools. These include process simulation, process design, process control, or similar technical specialized software.

Good communication skills, including good use of the English language, both spoken and written, ability to explain technical issues to non-experts, ability to write effective technical manuals.

Ability to travel to customer plant sites and perform shift work.

Ability to work well in a team of highly technical emphasis and interface effectively with plant operation personnel.
