PhD and Postdoctoral Fellowships

Biosensors Lab

Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, FORTH

1. Study of the mechanism of interaction of antimicrobial peptides with the cell membrane using biosensors

Prospective candidates should have experience or interest in biochemistry, biophysics, surface chemistry, bioengineering or any related subject. Successful applicants will be working in an interdisciplinary team and will collaborate with research groups in the USA (University of California, Irvine), Israel (Ben Gurion University) and Japan (Shizuoka University).

Research is sponsored by the Human Frontier Science Program Organization and is for 3 years with the possibility to extend it for another year. Positions are available from September 2004. Researchers of all nationalities are eligible to apply. PhD candidates should speak Greek fluently. The working language in the group is English.

2. Polymer patterns for the formation of membrane arrays

Prospective candidates should have experience or interest in polymer chemistry, surface chemistry, nanotechnology, bioengineering or any related subject. Successful applicant will be working in collaboration with a research group in the University of Cambridge, UK.

Research is sponsored initially by the General Secretariat for Research & Technology and the British Council. Positions are available from September 2004. The PhD position is for three years; the post-doc position is initially for 1 year with the possibility to extend it for another 2 years. Applicants of only Greek nationality are eligible to apply. Candidates should speak English fluently.
