RESEARCH JOBS IN THESSALONIKI, GREECE

The recently introduced program "ENTER" funded by the Greek Secretariat of Science and Technology (see http://www.gsrt.gr/ ) provides very good salaries (up to 1 million drachmas/month) for Greek scientists abroad who wish to participate in Research in a GSRT Research Institution for a period of up to a year. Part of the cost of the entire project must be financed by a Greek private corporation, but this is easily arranged. We, at the Center for Reasearch and Technology Hellas / Insitute for Telematics and Informatics (CERTH/ITI) in Thessaloniki, are actively looking for candidates in all areas in informatics and telematics. For a detailed profile please see the site http://www.iti.gr/ or http://uranus.ee.auth.gr/

The advantages for participating Greek Scientists currently residing abroad are:

-The possibility of staying permanently with CERTH/ITI in a tenure-track or, in the case of senior researchers, already tenured position

-The opportunity to assess the situation in Greece close-up and to have a direct and regular contact with Greek Universities, so as to prepare a return to a University position if this is preferred

-To generally "test the waters" about returning to Greece permanently in other employment areas. For example, the GSRT is now offering incentives (including venture capital!) for researchers at its Insitutes for the formation of spin-off companies .
