POSITIONS for Ph.D./ M.D. students at the MAX DELBRUECK CENTER FOR MOLECULAR MEDICINE (MDC) in Berlin, Germany.

(1) in Bioengineering/Cellular Biophysics, for Physics or Engineering graduate

(1) in Molecular Pharmaclogy, for Biology or Medicine graduate

(1) in Molecular Cell Biology, for Biology or Biochemistry graduate Research areas: Molecular Medicine of cardiovascular diseases, gene therapy, trangenic animal technology, functional genomics, pharmacogenetics and proteomics.

The candidates should have: the MS degree (or equivelant) for science graduates. Medical graduates should have the Medical licence and very good scores in the US Test for Foreign Medical graduates or the GRE. All should have very good academic records. Research experience in modern bio-medical research (e.g. Master Thesis, and at least a coauthorship in an Abstract published in a peer reviewed journal with I.F. above 2,0). Very good knowledge of the English language (TOEFL or similar).

Benefits: The position is for 3-4 years (2 years for MD candidates), with the possibility to obtain the PhD(MD) degree, from the prestigious Humboldt-University of Berlin or the Free University of Berlin. Both universities have Medical Faculties (Charite and Benjamin Franklin, respectively) as well as Natural Sciences Faculties.

Knowledge of Basic German is not required, will be made up during the first year. The position carries full health insurance and social security benefits. Salary is competitive with experience & qualifications (around 200,000 - 400,000 drachmas per month).

The MDC is a National Research Center and the graduate program in the Biomedical Sciences is in collaboration with the 2 Berlin Universities: HU-Berlin and FU-Berlin.

In addittion, evidence of research experience i.e. list of publications /abstracts and a copy of your master thesis (it will be returned to you following the selection) or proof of equivelant research/professional experience. Also, include certified copies of your university degrees/academic record/professional licence as well as of scores in TOEFL/GRE/FMGET or other relevant tests. At last include, one page summary of research interests and research philosophy.
