* Customer Support Engineers:

- OMC-2000 Development Field Support Engineers Ref: FSE 714

Your role will be to provide customer support for the GSM OMC-2000 (Operations and Maintenace Center) in our customers' GSM network environments. The GSM OMC is developed in an object oriented environment, using C++, to integrate GUI, relational database, and OSP interprocess communication packages on a HP9000/D350 based client server platform. This will involve reproducing customer reported problems, liaising with the development organisations to provide fast turnaround times, managing solutions to the customer, and supporting new customer field trials. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required along with excellent UNIX and networking knowledge. Experience of working at a customer site is an added advantage.

Job Description

Job Skills Required:

Several years of C++ programming experience
Experience of developing in the UNIX operating system environment
GUI development experience in X-Windows / OSF Motif

Desirable Skills:

Some RDBMS experience (SQL, preferably SYBASE)
Experience with OOA and OOD

-Integration Test Engineer Ref: ITE 701

Responsible for testing the GSM OMC-2000 software as the subsystems are integrated together. You will also create the test specifications relevant to the release, coordinate the load-building of the software, package and install it, run regression suites, and finally release the load to system verification. You must have strong test specification and execution skills, and UNIX familiarisation. Desirable skills include UNIX administration, network management, GSM, database, and telecoms.

This person would be responsible for test and integration activities associated with a subsystem of the OMC. The responsibilities include acceptance testing of new releases, testing of new/modified functionality, specification & execution of focussed tests and building an in-depth technical knowledge of the system to accomplish this.

Experience:

A minimum of 1 years experience in software development testing with the ability to demonstrate a track record of developing and executing detailed test plans. S/he should be able to demonstrate a meticulous and thorough approach to work. Knowledge of Metrica is a distinct advantage.

Duties and responsibilities:

Define and write test case scripts and work plans for testing. Perform detailed " Hands- On " testing Ensure planned acceptance tests are complete and correct and perform Acceptance Testing of new releases Write test summary reports. Write detailed problem descriptions where problems are identified. Work closely with the development team to ensure uptodate knowledge of the system and its latest functionality.

Qualifications:

The candidate should have a University education with a relevant science degree. Knowledge of GSM or European telecommunications standards would be an asset.

Personal Requirements:

A self motivated, team player who is able to work and adapt within a fast moving environment, the applicant will be highly motivated, demonstrating extensive practical as well as theoretical technical ability. The applicant will be expected to perform unsupervised if required and be called upon to provide concise and accurate information on the status of the system at any time.

Supporting both the RF Planning and the Installation and Commissioning groups, you will be responsible for generating and maintaining site survey procedures, processes and documentation. You will also be responsible for generating, maintaining and tracking site and network specific documentation which will in the short term support the Installation and Commissioning process and in the long term form part of final customer site and network documentation.

Holding a HND/HNC qualification, you will have at least three years experience in surveying/planning/engineering of GSM, microwave or similar radio base stations.

Good technicalunderstanding and an ability to operate in a team environment are essential.

Good IT Literacy including UNIX OpenWindows and experience on one of the major planing tools (ANET, PlaNet or IRPS) will be an advantage.
