UNIVERSITY OF CYPRUS

ANNOUNCEMENT OF ACADEMIC POSITIONS

The University of Cyprus announces the following academic post for the Department of Computer Science.

1 permanent (Professor or Associate Professor) in the following fields of study:

* Artificial Intelligence
* Computer Architecture
* Parallel and Distributed Processing
* Software Engineering

For all academic ranks, a Ph.D. from a recognized University is required.

The language of instruction is Greek and Turkish.

Applicants need not be citizens of the Republic of Cyprus.

The annual salaries for these positions (including the 13th salary) are:

Professor (Scale A15-A16) #25.165 - 32.711
Associate Professor (Scale A14-A15) #22.196 - 30.259
Assistant Professor (Scale A13-A14) #20.708 - 27.932
Lecturer (Scale A12-A13) #17.488 - 25-613

(At present CY#1=1.2081 sterling and CY#1=1.9916 dollars).

In addition the Council of the University may approve an annual bonus of up to CY#5.000 per year for persons appointed as Professors and up to CY#3.000 for persons appointed as Associate Professors.

Interested individuals must submit the following items by Wednesday 10th of March, 1999:

1. A letter stating the department, the academic rank or ranks for which the applicant is interested in, the field of fields of study and the date when he/she may be able to assume duties in the event of selection.

2. A Curriculum Vitae (6 copies).

3. A brief summary (not exceeding three pages) of the applicant's research work as well as a description of plans for future research (6 copies).

4. A list of publications (6 copies).

5. Copies of representative publications (6 copies, if possible).

6. Copies of their qualifications.

In addition, the applicants must ask three academic referees to send letters of recommendation directly to the University; the names and addresses of these referees must be submitted with the application. Additional confidential information may be sought.

The Curriculum Vitae and the brief summary of the research work should be written in Greek or Turkish and in one international language, preferably English.

Applications, other documents and reference letters that were submitted in the past will not be considered and must be re-submitted.

Applications that are not complete will not be considered.

The above must reach the University at the following address by Wednesday 10th of March 1999, by 2:00 p.m.
