An opportunity exists for a Post Doctoral Fellow (PDF) appointment at the Greenhouse and Processing Crops Research Centre (GPCRC) of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, in Harrow, Ontario, Canada, for research on the effects of the greenhouse environment and mineral nutrition on greenhouse tomato fruit quality. A second opportunity for a PDF, or a PhD student at a Canadian University, on greenhouse tomato physiology and/or crop management is also a possibility.

The GPCRC has the largest research greenhouse complex and the largest research team on greenhouse vegetables on the American Continent and is located only 20Km west of Leamington, Ontario, the largest concentration of greenhouse vegetables on the American continent. For details on the greenhouse vegetable research team at Harrow, and the greenhouse vegetable industry of Canada, please visit the website of the GPCRC (http://res.agr.ca/harrow) and of the Canadian Network for Greenhouse Vegetable Research (http://res.agr.ca/harrow/cgvrn).

Before you can be considered for a PDF position you must apply to the National Science and Engineering Council of Canada (NSERC) and have your name placed on their eligibility list; also, you must have graduated with a Ph.D. in the last two years. For details on the Visiting Fellowships in Canadian Government Laboratories program and information on how to apply please visit the website of the NSERC (http://www.nserc.ca/programs/sf/S&F_c4_e.pdf). In brief, these appointments are for one year at a time, renewable for up to three years total, subject to fund availability and satisfactory performance. Relocation expenses and a yearly salary of about CND$35.184 (approx. US$22.000) are paid.
