The Foundation of the Hellenic World (FHW), a private, non-profit cultural institution based in Athens, Greece, is seeking a Computer Graphics/Virtual Reality (VR) Developer. The primary goal of the FHW is to record, study, and present all aspects of Hel lenic Civilisation from prehistoric times to the present, throughout the world, with the use of advanced technologies and interactive multimedia. The qualified individual will take part in the setup, programming, and facilitation of the ongoing use of a state-of-the-art virtual reality visualization environment. She/he will be responsible for the creation of interactive multimedia and VR applications to support the educational mission of the new FHW Cultural Center and Museum in Athens, Greece. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to be at the forefront of the creative and innovative use of state-of-the-art technology for the development of immersive virtual reality learning. FHW offers the successful candidate the opportunity to work in a highly advanced environment, while learning and applying innovative concepts in close collaboration with leading VR institutions worldwide. EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Programming experience in computer graphics, with a strong experience and working knowledge of high performance graphics systems, especially SGI platforms, and the Unix operating system. C/C++, IRIS Performer, OpenGL, OpenInventor, VRML2.0, programming skills required. A higher level university degree with a background in computer science, mathematics, engineering or related field. Scholastic experience in VR, computer graphics, or closely related fields is highly desirable. Experience with audiovisual systems will be helpful. The position is for the Athens, Greece location beginning in the Fall 1998, and requires very good working knowledge of the English and Greek language.
