Systems Administrator. Harvard University, FAS Office of the Registrar. Reports to Acting Manager of Information Systems as an integral part of the Systems team. Provides computing and communications services for the Office of the Registrar/FAS and its clients (students, faculty and administration). Maintains and develops current heterogeneous network. Manages UNIX Systems and performs systems upgrades. Assists in maintenance of system peripherals and back up media. Manages migration to DEC Alpha 2100. Insures security implementation and access control.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent and minimum 3 years experience with UNIX, C programming, middleware maintenance and shell programming required. Experience with troubleshooting and installation of hardware; designing, writing, debugging and documenting specialized systems software; networking in a multiple protocol environment (TCP/IP, Appletalk) and data communications also required. Demonstrated skills in dealing with experienced and novice computer users and the ability to work under pressure and with minimum supervision is needed. NOTE: FT hours desirable but PT hours an option.
