ANNOUNCEMENT OF ACADEMIC POSITIONS

The Department of Computer Science of the University of Cyprus announces the following permanent posts (Professor or Associate Professor) and non permanent posts (Assistant Professor or Lecturer):

3 permanent posts in the following fields of study:


Computer Architecture or Database Systems or Programming Languages or Data Communication Networks or Parallel and Distributed Processing or Artificial Intelligence or Software Engineering.

2 non permanent posts in the following fields of study:


Computer Architecture or Database Systems or Programming Languages or Computer Graphics or Data Communication Networks or Parallel and Distributed Processing or Multimedia or Artificial Intelligence or Software Engineering.

For all academic ranks, a Ph.D from a recognized University is required.

The languages of instruction are Greek or Turkish.

Applicants need not be citizens of the Republic of Cyprus.

The annual salaries, in Cyprus Pounds, for these positions (including the 13th salary) are:

Professor (Scale A15-A16) = 23.217 - 30.179 Associate Professor (Scale A14-A15) = 20.478 - 27.917 Assistant Professor (Scale A13-A14) = 19.105 - 25.770 Lecturer (Scale A12-A13) = 16.134 - 23.631

(At present 1 Cyprus Pound = 1.2589 sterling and 1 Cyprus Pound = 2.1127 dollars)

In addition, the University Council may approve an annual bonus of up to 5.000 Cyprus Pounds per year for persons appointed as Professors and up to 3.000 Cyprus Pounds for persons appointed as Associate Professors.

Interested individuals must submit the following items by Wednesday 26th of March 1997:

I. A letter stating the department, the academic rank or ranks for which the applicant is interested in, the field or fields of study and the date when he/she may be able to assume duties in the event of selection.

Those interested for a permanent as well as for a non permanent post must submit separate applications.

II. A Curriculum Vitae (6 copies).

III. A brief summary (not exceeding three pages) of their research work as well as a description of plans for future research (6 copies).

IV. A list of publications (6 copies).

V. Copies of representative publications (6 copies if possible).

VI. Copies of their qualifications.

In addition, the applicants must request at least three academic referees to send letters of recommendation directly to the University; the names and addresses of these referees must be submitted with the application. Additional confidential information may be sought.

The Curriculum Vitae and the brief summary of the research work should be written in Greek or Turkish and in one international language, preferably English.

Applications, other documents and reference letters submitted in the past will not be considered and must be re-submitted.

Applications that are not complete will not be considered.
