Graduate Research Assistanships in Speech Recognition

Two graduate research assistant positions are available in the ECE department of the Technical University of Crete in the area of speech and language processing. The department of Electronics and Computer Engineering offers graduate studies towards the Masters and Ph.D. degrees in the areas of software, telecommunications, systems and electronics.

The applicants will work full-time on an international research project on large-vocabulary speech recognition that involves an American research institute and an industrial partner. Renumeration will be based on qualifications and experience, and there will be the capability of visiting and working in the US during the summer period.

The research is expected to lead to a Master's or a Ph.D. degree in the area of speech processing. The applicants should be able to start immediately (January 1996) and they should have a strong background in stochastic processes. Knowledge of signal, and especially speech processing is desired. Familiarity with the Unix operating system and mastery of the C programming language is required.
