Dr. Maria Todorova will be speaking on her book "Imagining the Balkans". An excerpt of the book will be available in photocopy on Friday, October 9th, at the Center for European Studies, one week before the talk, for those who wish to come to the study group prepared for discussion. Since this is a study group rather than simply a lecture series, it is our hope that there will be those among you who will consider regular attendance and involvement. It is designed to give scholars from a wide variety of disciplines (Anthropology, Government, History, Law, Literature, Sociology) a forum to discuss topics relevant to the region of Southeastern Europe (defined here as Albania, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia, Romania, Slovenia and Yugoslavia). The Study Group is sponsored by the Socrates Kokkalis Program on Southeastern and East-Central Europe.
