SHORT STORY COMPETITION (IN THE GREEK LANGUAGE)

The Municipality of Plastira, Karditsa, announces the 2nd Annual "Antonis Samarakis" Short Story Competition, the goal of which is to strengthen the written word and the short story, to provide an opportunity to new writers and to honor Greece's renowned author, Antonis Samarakis.

The competition is open to all under the age of 40, who partake in Greek education and write in the Greek language, regardless of their geographic location.

The participants can enter until July 31, 2003 by submitting only one unpublished story on a topic of their choice, which is not to exceed 2,000 - 2,500 words. Seven typed copies of the story must be submitted, and a pseudonym should appear underneath the title of the story. Another sealed envelope must be enclosed, bearing the author's pseudonym on the cover. The participant's real coordinates should be included inside the envelope: First and last name, father's name, year and place of birth, address of permanent residence, telephone numbers. These envelopes will be opened only if the entry is chosen for distinction.

The short stories to be chosen for distinction will be published in a special anthology by "Kastaniotis Publishing House". Winners will also receive a memento of honorary distinction.

The judging committee consists of established authors and academics.
