INTRODUCTION Aim of the conference

The 1st international conference of the chemical societies of the South-East European Countries on "Chemical Sciences and Industry" is organized to bring scientists from the S.E.E. Countries together for an improvement of mutual relations as well as an enhancement of scientific cooperation in the field of basic and applied chemical research. The success of the attempt would be culminated by the participation of a large number of distinguished chemists and scientists from the Industry from all the S.E.E Countries. Special efforts will be made to allow university students of the region to participate.

SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM

All participants are kindly requested to complete the enclosed Registration Form and send it to the above address. Registration Fee: The registration fee will be 50 dollars (15000 Drh). This includes conference materials, abstracts etc.

OFFICIAL LANGUAGE

The official language of the conference will be English. There will be no translation service.

Contributions in all branches of chemical sciences are welcome.
All accepted contributions will be published in the book of abstracts. Participants wishing to present contributions in oral or poster presentations as well as all the invited speakers are asked to submit strictly a one page abstract which should be camera-ready in an A4 format printed singly spaced with a laser printer. Abstracts exceeding the one page will not be forward for publication in the book of abstracts. A margin of 2 cm should be left on the top and bottom and 2.5 cm on both right and left sides of the text. The title should be written in Font 14 (Times) and in Bold capital letters. The rest of the abstract should be in 12 point font (Times). The name of the presenting author should be underlined. Then the author's affiliation and full address should be given in Italics. References to literature within the text should be placed in square brackets [1], [2],....and cited at the bottom of the abstract. As abstracts will be copied by photo-offset, they should be clean and neatly typed. Please send the original and two copies of your abstract by 15th of March 1998, to the conference secretariat.

Presentation time:Plenary lectures: 40 minutes; Invited lectures: 25 minutes; Oral presentations: 10 minutes; Posters: Board dimension should be 1m x 1m

The Scientific Committee reserves the right to accept or reject papers and to assign them to oral or poster presentation. All abstracts must be in English. Abstracts received by fax are unacceptable.

triple room: 160 USD (43000 drach) per person

In these packages are included: Breakfast, dinner, coffee-refreshments, welcome reception dinner, official dinner and possible excursion to Thessaloniki. The number of rooms in both hotels is limited. Strict priority will be applied. After the 15th of March the organizing committee can't guarantee your accommodation.

Participants who don't prefer to stay at the hotel Pallini or Macedonian Sun, may be accommodated at private rooms at the village Kallithea (about 3 km from the Conference place). Estimated price per room is 8000 Drh. The participants staying out of the hotel Pallini or Macedonian Sun and willing to participate at the welcome and official dinner should pay 14000 Drh.
