The duration of the use of Linear B on Cyprus into the 1st millenium BC is the subject of one of the presentations at a symposium Saturday April 12, 1997 at the Semitic Museum of Harvard University.

The symposium is in association with the opening there on April 13 of the exhibit "Ancient Cyprus: The Cesnola Collection at the Semitic Museum". The collection in question is the Cesnola collection of Cypriot antiquities which had been at Stanford until recently, which now has been given to the Semitic Museum of Harvard. The announcement states the exhibit will be on view through 1998.

The symposium title is "Cyprus in the Later First Millenium BC". It will be held from 10AM - 3PM. The presentation topics in order listed are:

The Assyrians on Cyprus, Ann Shafer, Fine Arts Dept., Harvard The Phoenicians on Cyprus, Joseph Greene, Semitic Museum, Harvard The Egyptians on Cyprus, Andres Reyes, The Groton School Cypro-Syllabic and Greek on Cyprus, Bonnie Bazemore, Univ. of Chicago.
