Computational Methods and Experimental Measurements 97Conferences Directory - Previous Article - Next Article
8th International Conference OBJECTIVESThe International Conference on Computational Methods and Experimental Measurements provides a forum for the review of the latest work on interaction between numerical methods and experimental measurements. The Conference series is unique in this field and is now well established following the success of the first seven meetings. While computer models have been increasingly successful in simulating an ever widening range of engineering problems, it is nevertheless essential that advances in these models are validated and verified against experiment. Experimental measurements are themselves conditioned to the requirements of the computational models. Hence it is important that scientists working on experiments communicate with researchers developing computer codes as well as those carrying our measurements on prototypes. The orderly and progressive concurrent development of all these fields is essential for the progress of engineering sciences. LOCATION & DATESThe dates of the conference will be from 21 - 23 May 1997. The meeting will be held in the Hotel Olympic Palace on the beautiful island of Rhodes, Greece. The hotel is situated just 5 km from Rhodes Town surrounded by magnificant scenery and the sea of Ialy ssos Bay. Details on accommodation will be available from the Conference Secretariat, closer to the time of the conference. CONFERENCE CHAIRMENProf G M Carlomagno
University of Naples Dr P Anagnostopoulos Prof C A Brebbia INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC COMMITTEEP B Bearman CONFERENCE THEMESThe meeting will provide a forum for discussion and exchange of ideas among those working on computational methods and experimental measurements, in particular on the themes given below:
FIELDS OF APPLICATION
MINI-EXHIBITION FACILITIESThere will be space provided at the conference for those firms or organisations wishing to display products, services, software, hardware or literature relating to the theme of the conference. For further information please contact the secretariat or register your interest on the enquiry form. CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGSThe proceedings of the conference will be published in book form by Computational Mechanics Publications and will be available to delegates at the time of registration. In addition the proceedings w ill be widely distributed after the conference through the international book trade. CALL FOR PAPERSPapers are invited on the topics outlined overleaf and others falling within the scope of the Conference. Three copies of an abstract of no more than 300 words clearly stating the purpose, results and conclusion of the work to be described in the final paper should be submitted to the Conference Secretariat by 1 November 1996. Final acceptance will be based upon the review of the full length paper. The camera-ready manuscript of the full length paper must be received by 24 January 1997. The language of the conference will be English. TIME SCHEDULEReturn reply form:As soon as possible Submit Abstract: As soon as possible and no later than 1 November 1996 Submit Final Paper: 24 January 1997 CONFERENCE LOCATIONRhodes is the largest of the Dodecanese islands and is a popular tourist island due to its natural beauty, historical monuments and archaeological sites. Present-day Rhodes is a medieval/modern amal gam, fortified behind an ancient wall with impressive 14th and 15th century buildings, stone paved lanes with arches and vaults, rows of little shops together with luxurious hotels, broad tree-lined avenues and commercial stores. TRAVEL TO RHODESBy Air, Rhodes has an international airport just 16 kms from the city and is linked to the main Western European cities. By Sea, there is a regular ferry service to/from Piraeus, mainland Greece. Inland, there is a good road network with frequent bus services and
taxis to travel around the city and the island. A local tourist agency will help delegates to arrange excursions around Rhodes, other Greek islands and parts of mainland Greece. Further details will be available closer to the time of the conference.
