[02] PAPANDREOU-GUL TELEPHONE COMMUNICATIONAthens, 14 June 2003 (22:51 UTC+2)Foreign Minister Giorgos Papandreou had a telephone communication with his Turkish counterpart Abdullah Gul on Friday afternoon. According to Turkish press publications, the Turkish Foreign Minister proposed joint works regarding the Aegean airspace. The publication mentioned that Mr. Papandreou responded to the proposal and underlined the importance of both sides keeping a cool head. The newspapers also underlined that Mr. Gul referring to the upcoming parliamentary elections in Greece pointed out that Greek-Turkish relations, which are very sensitive, should not be taken advantage of for interior consumption.
