The defense lawyers maintain that the temporary detention order for defendant Papanastasiou was renewed in spite of the fact that the deadline set by law for such a decision had expired. They insist that according to the law, the prosecutor had to order the release of Papanastasiou. They want the prosecutor in the 17N trial to face the penalties provided by law accusing him of committing an unexpected false move when he ordered the renewal of the defendant's temporary detention. Violence does not solve problems and does not help in the efforts for peace. Responding to a question on the form of the event, he pointed out that it is organized by a so-called Committee for the Reception of Political Refugees made up of people close to "Uranio Toxo". On Greece's relations with FYROM, he said that the Greek government and the government of FYROM for a long time now share a specific quality in their relations and the Summit Meeting in Chalkidiki was the culmination for a number of efforts made by Greec e. Mr. Christodoulakis called on all the Cretans living abroad to invest in their homeland and undertake initiatives on Greek national issues, such as the issue of Cyprus, and on the promotion of culture in Crete. He also suggested the establishment of a co mmunication channel between scientists and young Cretans on the Internet to exchange views and experiences and to promote the advantages of Crete. In his speech, Mr. Christodoulakis pointed out that Greece has made significant progress and has become a factor of peace and prosperity in the Balkans and the wider Mediterranean region. In the resolution it is also stressed that all the Greeks living abroad can and should contribute to the promotion of national interests by informing the international public opinion and becoming the ambassadors of Hellenism around the world. The upgrading of the festival is reflected by the fact that among the participating films are being included many that were distinguished in major international festivals. A total of 158 participants will present their films in the International Panorama and 114 of them come from 27 countries. Among the participating films are many co-productions. Forty two Greek film directors will participate in the festival. Specifically, will be screened 14 films, 74 short films, 37 documentaries, 10 animation films and 21 experimental films with a total duration of 4825 minutes.
