    Athens, 07/08/1999 (MÐÅ) The funeral of popular Greek singer, Rita Sakelariou, who died of cancer will be held on Monday. Sakellariou had been undergoing medical treatment for 40 days at "Igeia" hospital, and succumbed to overall cancer. She left behind five chldren, dozens of albums and great popular hits. Politicians, people of the arts and culture as well as many singer conveyed their condolences to the family of the deceased.

    [02] SHARES OF DEH, ETBA AND AGRICULTURE BANK BY 2001

    Athens, 07/08/1999 (MÐÅ) Finance Minister, Giannos Papantoniou announced today that shares of the public electricity company (DEH), ETBA and Agriculture Bank will be made available to investors by 2001. Mr. Papantoniou ruled out a reduction of the VAT and changes in the tariffs of the public organisations, while expressing the hope that inflation rates will remain at the same levels, without the need of dramatic measures, except for some additional minor taxes.

    Thessaloniki, 07/08/1999 (MÐÅ) A heat wave is expected this week in Greece, according to meteorologists. On Tuesday and Wednesday the temperature will reach 42 degrees in the Celsius scale, while in the islands the temperature will rise up to 25 degrees.

    Today in Thessaloniki the weather will be fair and the temperature will be between 21 and 35 degrees. The ministry of Interior has announced that hospitals and clinics are in a state of preparedness. Senior citizens and people with health problems are advised no to move around without serious reasons.

    Traffic in the ports of Thessaloniki, Pireas and Rafina is increased, and 47 boats will depart fir Cyclades, Crete and Dodecanese islands
