Athens, 05/12/1998 (MPA) Inflation dropped significantly in November at 4.2% compared to 4.7% in October. The drop is the result of the cuts in indirect taxes imposed on fuel and private cars.

Minister of national economy and finance Yiannos Papantoniou predicted that by the end of 1999 inflation will be at 2% and this development may be the ticket for Greece's participation in the European Economic and Monetary Union.

Athens, 05/12/1998 (MPA) The re-supply of fuel stations has started gradually after the requisition of the striking customs employees' services by the government, while the situation in the market is expected to be normalized by Monday.

Meanwhile, the 6 customs employees, who were arrested yesterday morning at the oil refineries of Aspropirgos, were released after being charged.

The owners of liquid fuel stations decided the postponement of their mobilizations. They decided against a strike action due to the situation in the market and because of the commitments undertaken by the government officials.

[03] AUTHOR GIORGOS ANDREADIS WAS DEPORTED FROM TURKEY

    Web Posted: 15:57 GMT+2

His arrest was made after a report published by the ultra-nationalist newspaper "Yeni Safak" according to which, the author envisages the creation of a Greek state in Pontus. Mr. Andreadis went to Istanbul to give an interview to "Yeni Safak" reporter Hussein Likoglu in order to win a refutation of the false allegations promoted in the earlier publication.

Giorgos Andreadis has written many books on the Greeks from Pontus which have been translated and published in Turkey and one of them, titled "Tamama", has become a best seller in the neighboring country.
