    The leader of Greece's main opposition party, New Democracy's Miltiades Evert visited Albania today where he toured Argyrocastro and other cities.

    As it was announced, this visit on behalf of the oppposition leader was conducted after an understanding with the Greek government.

    Mr. Evert's tour was an act of solidarity and support to the Greek ethnic minority living in Albania, which community is tormented on a daily basis by looters and masked robbers.

    [02] GREECE'S HIGH SCHOOLS TO RE-OPEN TOMORROW, 55-DAY STRIKE CALLED OFF

    Greece's high school teachers have called off their almost two-month long strike after 44 local teachers' unions voted for the end the strike, while 39 voted in support of its continuation, yesterday.

    Tomorrow, the national teachers union OLME will file an appeal with an Athens court, contesting the recent judicial ruling that found the teachers' strike as being extortionate and illegal. The lawsuit had been filed by parents of high school students.

    [03] SALI BERISHA THROWS FUEL INTO THE FIRE, INSISTS ON HOLDING ON TO POST

    Albanian President Sali Berisha has refuted all the persistent rumors that brought him as having resigned and announced today that he will remain at his post until early elections are held, a matter which has yet to be determined but could take place in June. He further clarified that he will resign only if his Democratic Party loses.

    As was expected, this announcement ignited the fermenting tension throughout Albania and the leaders of the armed civilians are now demanding that they meet with the new Premier Bashkim Fino.

    In Tirana, thousands of persons participated in a peaceful rally demanding an end to the violence.

    [04] OSCE GIVES GREEN LIGHT FOR FORCE TO BE ASSIGNED TO ALBANIA

    Brussels, March 16 (MPA)

    The Organization for Security and Cooperation n Europe (OSCE) has approved of sending a small peacekeeping force to Albania to restore order.

    Personnel from Greece, Italy and the Netherlands will join officers from the European Union and the OSCE tomorrow in order to hold talks with the Albanian caretaker government.

    Meanwhile, Albania's Socialist Party leader Fatos Nano, who was freed last week after having been incarcerated for four years, was officially pardoned by Albanian President Sali Berisha today.

    [05] REPPAS: GREECE'S HUMANITARIAN AID TO ALBANIA WILL CONTINUE

    Government spokesperson Dimitris Reppas visited the hospital of Florina today and met with two Albanian patients whom he assured that Greece's humanitarian aid to their country will continue.

    Mr. Reppas also expressed his conviction that Greece's positive input in the search of a peaceful solution to the crisis that has torn apart the neighboring country will be appreciated so that a new era can dawn upon the two countries' relations.

    "Foremostly, I believe that the Greek minority will benefit and thrive once again," Mr. Reppas stated.

    [06] EU FOREIGN MINISTERS AGREE TO SEND SMALL FORCE TO ALBANIA

    Brussels, March 16 (MPA)

    The European Union's Foreign Ministers met in Holland yesterday and decided that a small force will be assigned to Albania in order to contribute to the country's improved policing.

    This decision is viewed as a good will effort on behalf of the EU to alleviate the crisis in Albania.
