The turkish cargo ship "Figan Akat" ran aground last night east of the southern Aegean island of Kalymnos. The ship is carrying cement and has a 15-member crew.

A greek coastguard ship and many other private ships sailing nearby responded to the SOS signal that was sent out by the turkish ship's captain and offered their help but the captain insisted on using his own means and as a result the ship is still in the same position.

The 15-member turkish crew on board the "Figan Akat" is safe.

[04] TWO IRAQI SLAVE-TRADERS WERE ARRESTED IN THE TOWN OF FERES IN EVROS, NORTH-EASTERN GREECE

Two iraqi slave-traders were arrested by the greek police near the town of Feres in Evros, north-eastern Greece while they were in two rented cars waiting for 12 illegal immigrants from Iraq in order to bring them to Athens.

According to police, Bashar Rizek-Ala, 21 yearsold and Osana Vuvnan, 22 had agreed to receive 1.000 US dollars in order to bring the illegal immigrants to Athens.

The two iraqies were living in the greek capital and according to police, they had false documents with them and they had entered Greece illegally two years ago.

[05] MYSTERY CONTINUES TO COVER THE DEATH OF A TOURIST COUPLE IN THE ISLAND OF CRETE

Mystery continues to surround the causes of death of a tourist couple that was found last Sunday in Sitia's Platani Beach on the southern Aegean island of Crete. The couple was found in its car and INTERPOL participates in the investigations for their identification.

After the autopsy that has been performed, the coroner mr.Frangoulis stated that their death occured 3 days before they were found adding that it was the result of injuries they had suffered. The police authorities expresed the view that they are possibly italians but this is not certain.

Meanwhile, the information that came to light concerning the possibility to be a "black magic" case has alarmed the Sitia residents. This possibility has been supported by half-burned documents depicting swords and by a medallion with numbers and drawings found on the dead man's headless body. The possibility of black magic is also being supported by the fact that near the place, where the two bodies were found, there is a cave in which were found waxworks, candles and many drawings.

In the victims' car were found paint-brushes and easels which leads to the conclusion that the couple were painters.

Nevertheless, police authorities do not rule out the possibility according to which the deaths were the result of the settling of differencies among illicit dealers of antiquities.
