    [01] THE CONDITION OF THE PRIME MINISTER'S HEALTH HAS DETERIORATED IN THE PAST 24 HOURS

    The condition of Prime Minister Papandreou's health has deteriorated in the past 24 hours.

    According to the latest medical bulletin that was issued at 1:30pm today by the Onasion Cardiology Center, the condition of the Prime Minister has deteriorated. The respiratory function is periodically supported by respirator and the renal function by artificial kidney. Also, is mentioned that the treatment with antibiotics continues.

    [02] THE 1996 STATE BUDGET WAS VOTED THROUGH IN PARLIAMENT

    With 164 votes for and 126 against the 1996 state budget was approved in the greek Parliament last night. The deputies of the governing party of PASOK voted for the state budget and the independent deputy Kiriakos Spiriounis voted against the defence and welfare budget.

    Of the PASOK deputies Christos Kipouros voted against the appropriations for the Ministry of National Economy and the Ministry of Environment, Land Planning and Public Works, while the deputy Lefteris Vounatsos voted against the budget proposed for the Ministry of the Aegean.

    [03] THE GREEK FOREIGN MINISTER CHARACTERIZED AS GREAT EVENT THE TWO GREEK-BULGARIAN AGREEMENTS THAT WERE SIGNED IN SOFIA YESTERDAY

    Greek Foreign Minister Karolos Papoulias characterized as great event for the greek-bulgarian relations and for Greece's foreign policy the signing yesterday in Sofia of two greek-bulgarian agreements.

    Mr.Papoulias stated after he returned to Athens that he is satisfied with the agreements concerning the waters of River Nestos and the opening of three border crossings at the greek-bulgarian borders.

    Mr.Papoulias said that Greece and Bulgaria will make a joint effort to organize a Balkan Conference in which will be invited to participate Hungary, Austria and Slovakia, stressing that after the signing of the Dayton peace agreement the Balkans are on the road of cooperation.

    The greek Foreign Minister expressed the certainty that the tripartite protocol for the construction of the Burgas - Alexandroupolis oil pipe-line will be signed by Greece, Bulgaria and Russia adding that the issue was discussed in Sofia during his meeting with bulgarian Prime Minister Jan Videnov.

    [04] THE CYPRIOT GOVERNMENT WILL PROTEST TO THE UN AGAINST THE COURT SENTENCING OF A GREEK-CYPRIOT IN THE TURKISH OCCUPIED TERRITORIES

    Cypriot President Glafkos Kliridis will protest strongly to the five permanent members in the UN Security Council and to the United Nations against the court decision in the turkish occupied part of Cyprus according to which greek-cypriot Yiannis Apostolidis who is being illegally held since November 16th was found guilty. Apostolidis was arrested because he entered the turkish- occupied territories.

    Cypriot government spokesman Yiannakis Kasoulidis stated that the meeting of the National Council was interrupted and will reconvene on January 9th.

    Mr.Kasoulidis refused to respond to questions on whether there was discussion on ways for handling the Cyprus problem or on whether Foreign Minister mr.Michailidis informed the National Council members on the talks he had in Athens.

    [05] FURRIERS FROM NORTH-WESTERN GREECE WILL PARTICIPATE IN THE INTERNATIONAL FAIR CONSUMEXPO '96 IN MOSCOW

    Furriers from north-western Greece will participate in the international fair CONSUMEXPO '96 that will be held in Moscow on January 15-19. The greek furriers participate in the exhibition within the framework of the efforts for the promotion of the greek furs and for the development of the trade and economic relations.

    Kastoria's Furriers Association in cooperation with the Organization for the Promotion of the Greek Exports will participate in the international exhibition aiming at promoting the greek-russian economic relations and the strengthening of friendship between the two peoples.
