    [A01] GREEK HUMANITARIAN AID FOR THE KRAJINA SERBS.

    Two more military transport planes C-130 with greek humanitarian aid for the Krajina serb refugees left Athens today for Belgrade. Each of the two transport planes is carrying 18 tons of food, medicine, shoes, clothing and blankets while the humanitarian effort is being coordinated by Navy Captain Vasilios Dertilis. In Belgrade will also arrive medical doctors, interpreters and other specialized personnel. The first phase of the greek humanitarian mission will be concluded tomorrow with the departure of other three C-130 transport planes for Belgrade. Greek military hospitals in northern Greece are ready to receive wounded from Krajina while a programme of cooperation with private institutions offering their support to the Krajina refugees is in progress. Also, the greek Foreign Ministry announced that two bank accounts have been opened for private citizens who want to contribute to the whole effort. Meanwhile, in Cyprus an effort to raise money for the Krajina serbs is in progress after an initiative by the Archdiocese, while the cypriot government spokesman stated that the govenment will offer large quantities of medicine, blankets and baby food. The Government Employees Union announced that a delegation will make three missions to Belgrade on Friday, Sunday and Tuesday in order to accompany to the serb capital humanitarian aid of medicine, food and money. Together with the Union delegation will go to Belgrade and four doctors with 8 nurses who will remain in the region to offer their services. Greek National Defense Minister mr Yerassimos Arsenis in an interview with the daily Ta Nea, said that the Greek initiatives will not stop at the humanitarian help but declined to give any more details. In the same interview Mr Arsenis expressed himself for the view that Belgrade either did not want or could not react to the Croat offensive.

    [A02] GOVERNMENTAL MP REFERRED TO THE CENTRAL COMMITTEE

    Thessaloniki governmental MP mr Kiriakos Spiriounis was referred today to the central committee of the governing party which will decide on his stay in the party after the statement he made according to which Prime Minister and President of the Party mr Andreas Papandreou should withdraw from politics. The authority committee of the party set the MP out of all party activities till the central committee, in its next session decides on his fate. Mr Spiriounis expressed his optimism for the justification of his ideas while the Industry minister mr Costas Simitis said that political problems can not be faced with prohibitions.

    If the ex-monarch wants to aquire the quality and the of rights greek citizen he should first respect the constitutional decisions of the Greek people and the respond to the conditions set by the law, said today the Greek Press and Media Minister mr Evangelos Venizelos when asked about the interview ex-king of Greece mr Constantinos gave to Australian media.

    [A04] GRECOBULGARIAN COOPERATION ON THE BORDERLINE

    Greek Nomarch of Evros mr Giorgos Dolios and his Bulgarian counterpart of Haskovo mr Angel Naindenov met today on the borderline and decided to organize manifestations so that the reapproachment and the cooperation between Balkan countries, countries of the Black Sea zone and Eastern Europe are promoted. During the meeting, mr Dolios put forward the idea of the creation of a free-trade zone round Ormenio, while the two sides agreed that they should contact each other on any case of pollution in the rivers Evros and Ardas.

    [A05] A GERMAN CITIZEN WAS SERIOUSLY WOUNDED BY CAR THIEVES.

    Unidentified gunmen shot and seriously wounded a german citizen last night when he tried to stop them from stealing his car. The 27yearold Ammon Ammon together with his wife Sabine Schaller had camped illegally in a remote region between the towns of Stavros and Olympiada near Thessaloniki. According to police, in the early morning hours today three unidentified gunmen with their faces covered tried to steal the victim's car and when the couple realized what was happening the gunmen opened fire injuring the german citizen. After the shooting they searched the couple's tent and they left without taking anything. The wounded german tourist was taken to Papanicolaou Hospital in Thessaloniki and his condition was characterized as serious.

    [A06] ARCHBISHOP OF NORTH AND SOUTH AMERICA, IAKOVOS IN GREECE

    Archbishop of North and South America, Iakovos will visit the north-eastern greek city of Alexandroupolis on Sunday accompanied by mr Panayiotis Angelopoulos, one of the most important benefactors of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople. Archbishop Iakovos will visit Alexandroupolis after an invitation by the city's Metropolite, Anthimos while on Monday he will also visit and his birthplace on the island of Imvros, which is under Turkish control ever after the treaties of Losane. Church circles commenting on reports that Archbishop Iakovos might resign stated that the possibility of important developments in Imvros is not ruled out.

    [A07] OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN TO HOST DOCUMENTARY ON BEARS IN GREECE.

    The world famous australian singer and film star, Olivia Newton John was expected to arrive in Thessaloniki today in order to participate in a television documentary on the bears in Greece under the title "Dances with Bears". She will be the main narrator in the 30-minute documentary on the greek nature which will be a US- Australian production and will be shown on US and australian television. The filming of the documentary will begin today and will last three days. Ms.Newton-John will be the guest of "Arktouros" association for the protection of brown bears, based at Nymphaio, Florina in north-western Greece. According to wildlife officials, the number of bears living in the wild in Greece are less than 200.
