The Acropolis archaeological site, blocked by temporary contract Culture Ministry staff demanding permanent job contracts, opened this morning after security forces intervention. Some incidents between employees and security forces were recorded while Riot Police used chemicals to disperse protesters. The archaeological site, however, is not operating as there are no employees. The chairman of temporary contract employees Nikos Hasomeris had strong dispute with policemen and the Acropolis curator while a demonstrator was brought to the local police station. Culture Ministry temporary contract staff said they would remain at the Acropolis site till 18:00 today(Thursday) and will return on Friday.

Temporary contract employees refused to open the gate to the Holy Hill, whose lock they had replaced on Wednesday night. This is the reason of the Public Prosecutor's involvement who after statements by the Acropolis curator and guards ordered the presence of security forces.

"Mobilizations will continue. Responsibilities should be attributed to the political leadership. Today, they destroyed the Acropolis archaeological site" said the chairman of the temporary contract employees Nikos Hasomeris.

Alternate Culture Minister Tilemahos Hitiris, in an interview with NET, said he was willing to meet with employees and stressed that the law applies to all.

A survey carried out by the Finance Ministry, within framework of midterm strategy for purging and transparency in state finances), has come up with shocking data about the 11 most costly public companies and organizations (DEKO). The report says 11 DEKO borrow 12 billion euros annually, 8 times more to their annual turnover or else they borrow 8 euros for each euro they collect. The average annual income of employees in these companies is about â¬40.772 , double income compared to an employee in the private sector and larger than civil servants' salaries.

Among DEKO companies, OSE records the biggest losses and it is followed by TRAINOSE, HSAP, HLPAP, ETHEL and ODIE. In 2009 deficits in the 11 companies with the biggest losses mounted to 1.7 billion euros while salary cost was over 1.168 billion euros.

Transport Minister Dimitris Reppas, presenting to the competent Parliament Committee draft-bill on reforms in OSE, reassured that Hellenic railways will not close and jobs will be maintained.

ND party said will vote the draft-bill in principal, LAOS described it as incomplete and it is expected to state present while the two left wing parties GCP and SYRIZA will vote against denouncing that the organization was looted, will be privatized with its debts transferred to the State.
