    Draft-bill on civil sector social security was voted on the articles. The GCP and LAOS parties submitted request for roll call vote on six articles, which were passed with 156 votes in favour ( PASOK) , against 128 ( ND, GCP,SYRIZA, LAOS) and independent deputies Sofia Sakorafa, F. Kouvelis and N. Tsukalis) and "present" G. Dimaras. Absent were independent deputies G. Oikonomou, Dora bakoyiannis, K. Kiltidis. Some amendments providing for improvements in several regulations were also submitted today Thursday. The first amendment provides that the final pension sum is determined for all years on the rate corresponding to the last year of full contributions.

    Three nominal years to establish full pension are given to armed and security forces officers who have joined the forces till the age of 32 and can not complete 40 years of contributions.

    The draft-bill passed in principal on Wednesday provides for retirement at the age of 65yo or 60yo with completion of 40 years of work, equal retirement age for men and women, insurance coverage by IKA as of 1/1/2011 , while same regulations apply for civil and private sector.

    In the meantime, ADEDY and Local Administration employees staged a demonstration at noon outside the Parliament in protest against draft-bill on civil sector social security. Air traffic controllers took part in the work stoppage.

    [02] Samaras Nominates Kaklamanis

    ND party leader Antonis Samaras, during his visit to the Social Solidarity Center of the Athens Municipality, expressed his support to Nikitas Kaklamanis ( present Athens mayor) candidacy in November local administration elections. "We are certain that Mr. Kaklamanis with his seriousness, alertness and credibility will gain the confidence of Athenians again, said Mr. Samaras referring to the work of the Athens mayor, adding that he would have the ND party's cooperation in his efforts.

    On his part, the Athens mayor stressed that the task of the municipality is to materialize the social liberalism heralded by the ND party and called on the opposition leader to assume some initiatives so in cooperation with social sectors and local administration to build a social protection net for weak groups of citizens.

    [03] Piraeus Bank Proposes to Take over ATE & Post Banks

    Piraeus Bank, in an extraordinary press interview, offered the sum of 701 million euros to take over 77.3% of ATE Bank and 33.4% of Post Bank. The government is examining its proposal while trading in the three banks shares has been suspended at the Athens Stock Market. Piraeus president Mihalis Sallas said: "This proposal is to the benefit of the three banks shareholders due to the size of the new Group as well as economy of scale that would be achieved. The sum for the take over mounts to 701 million euros". In protest against the proposal, Employees of ATE Bank are staging a 24-hour strike on Friday and Post Bank employees work stoppage. The price of the three banks shares recorded high gains after temporary suspension of trading earlier.

    Finance Ministry

    "The government is examining Piraeus Bank proposal for the purchase of the package of shares the State owns in these banks within the frame of legal procedures and criteria to serve public interest and viable course of ATE and Post Banks as well as the banking system and Greek economy" says the Finance Ministry announcement.

    The Finance Ministry announcement says that the relevant letter-proposal by the Piraeus Bank president Mihalis Sallas was sent on Wednesday to Finance Minister G. Papakonstantinou.

    Trading of Shares Suspended

    Spiros Kapralos, president of the Athens Stock Market Administration Board, with the agreement of the Stock Market Committee decided to suspend trading of the shares of Piraeus, Agriculture and Post banks after being briefed on the Piraeus Bank proposal.
