Following contacts on Monday morning with national coordination
committee and interested sectors, the Health Ministry leadership has
decided to review smoking ban bill. Health Minister K.
Xenoyianakopoulou underlined the many problems and contradictions in
the articles of the present bill and spoke of a new legislative
framework that could be workable. Representatives of restaurant owners
agreed with the coordination committee proposal for full smoking ban,
clarifying that pubs, night clubs and traditional coffee shops should
be exempted and sanctions imposed on customers and not owners.
