[01] Weather Deterioration Forecast
Friday, 12 February 2010 19:27
The weather won't be an ally to the holidaymakers who are expected to
leave the urban centres and celebrate the coming Ash Monday in the
countryside, since showers and storms are forecast to hit Greece. The
residents of eastern Macedonia and Thrace are trying to fix the damage
caused by the torrential rains, while painstaking efforts are being
made to restore the damage done in the road network of the prefecture
of Halkidiki, northern Greece. The water level of Evros River in the
prefecture of Evros has risen, without causing problems. Authorities,
however, are on standby.
Those who will choose to celebrate Ash Monday away from the urban
centres will meet rainy weather, since a further weather deterioration
has been forecast.
In the meantime, all maintenance works made in the country's highways
have been temporarily suspended to facilitate traffic.
