    The meeting of SYN party Central Political Committee on Saturday is considered crucial as it is expected that Alexis Tsipras will propose the holding of an extraordinary meeting in October. In the meantime, the issue sparked after deputy Periklis Korovesis statements has closed. Periklis Korovesis maintained that united SYN party was involved in intransparent economic procedures during the Ecumenical government ruling in 1989. After a long meeting on Thursday, SYRIZA parliamentary group condemned Periklis Korovesis statements but closed the issue as he gave sufficient explanations as it is reported.

    [02] Protest Demonstration over LARKO Accident

    LARKO workers are staging a demonstration at Martino junction on Athens-Lamia highway in protest against the new accident which killed a 25yo worker. Three more workers, one of them seriously, were injured in Wednesday's accident. A delegation from SYRIZA headed by SYN president Alexis Tsipras is participating in the protest demonstration.

    [03] New Serious H1N1 Case

    The Health Ministry announced the 8th serious H1N1 case. A 58yo woman was transferred to hospital with grave respiratory problems. She is reported in critical condition. She suffers from diabetes, chronic kidney failure and Goodpasture disease and is undergoing dialysis. She is also overweight. In the meantime, 33 new recruits in the Special Forces Army Camp in Megalo Pefko have shown symptoms of the new flu. Three of them have been transferred to 401 Military Hospital.

    [04] Funeral of Waterbomber Pilot

    The funeral of water dropping plane pilot Stergios Kotoulas, 55, is to be held at 17:45, at Papagos Cemetery, on Friday. The air captain was killed on Thursday when the single-seat plane went down around noon on the western island of Kephalonia while trying to extinguish a small blaze near the village of Katelios. The plane hit a power line while flying 10 meters above the ground. The Air-Force declared two-day mourning while the state and political leadership expressed their deep grief and sadness at the accident.

    [05] Ablaze Palos Verdes in California

    Four large wildfires swept across south California as the flames made their way slowly down from the San Gabriel Mountains threatening densely populated residential areas. Wildfires in Palos Verdes peninsula and La Canada have forced residents of more than 500 homes to evacuate the area. Some 1.700 firefighters and water dropping planes are battling to put out the blazes.
