Honduras slid toward greater instability after ousted Honduran
President Manuel Zelaya was not allowed to land at the airport. His
plane finally landed at El Salvador late on Sunday. Soldiers had
blocked the runway in Honduras to prevent his being landing.
In clashes near the airport between 30,000 supporters of Zelaya and
troopers, two protestors were killed and another two sustained
injuries. Honduras' military rule enforced a sunset-to-sunrise curfew
after the death in demonstrations. Following Honduras' ousting from the
Organization of American States, authorities suggested talks with the
Organization. In the meantime, interim Honduran President Roberto
Micheletti said he was tipped off Nicaraguan troops marching towards
the border between the two states. Nicaragua denied having taken
military actions.
