[01] Mozambique: 12 People Killed in Prison Cell

At least 12 prisoners were killed under strange conditions in a cell
they shared in a prison in Napula province according to local media.
State television channel TVM said that cause of their death has not
been revealed. Their bodies were transferred to a morgue in the capital
of the province. The dead prisoners had been arrested during recent
violent incidents when angered people killed two policemen while trying
to protect Red Cross volunteers , who people accused of spreading
cholera.
Observers said the incident was similar to the killing of hundreds of
opposition supporters, who were held in Muntepues prison in 1999.
