  • [01] National Dialogue on Education Commences

All are expecting with interest today's first meeting of the political committee set up for the changes to be introduced in Lyceum and the entry exams to Tertiary Education. Attending the meeting, which will be chaired by Education Minister Aris Spiliotopoulos, will be ND (Conservatives), PASOK (Socialists) and LAOS (Popular Orthodox Rally) MPs, while SYRIZA (Coalition of the Radical Left) and KKE (Communist Party of Greece) MPs will abstain. The first official meeting of Primary and Secondary Education committees under Professor George Babiniotis' chairmanship will take place at Zappeio, Wednesday. Meanwhile, Rectors, who met at Karpenisi, failed to present a proposal on entry exams to Tertiary Education. The issue will be discussed again.

At the same time, although new correlations resulted from the elections held by University professors and POSDEP committee, the Left still retains the majority.

Meanwhile, KKE (Communists) Secretary General Aleka Papariga will meet with OLME at 12:00 and SYN (Coalition of the Left) President Alexis Tsipras will present SYRIZA's (Coalition of the Radical Left) proposals on Education at a Press Conference.
